2005 ford ranger would not start back up after a 1/2 hour drive. While trying to start, it was acting like there was no fuel. Had it towed back home, (after about 2 hours) and you guessed it, it started with key and remote starter. I been driving back and forth in the driveway and starting, and restarting with no problem. Any help on this would be appreciated Thanks, Joe

Just went to the store, and no problems. While the truck was idling I could hear a clicking noise coming from the passinger side where under the dash. It went away after I got underway.

SOURCE: High pitch noise when turn key to start / engine not turning over

Check your battery first. Cold weather does horrible things to car batteries... if it's more of a grinding sound I would say that your starter gear is bad. I believe they call it a ring gear? I had a similar problem with a kushman scooter that I use to deliver snowcones through the neighborhoods. It has teeth that need to engage and if those teeth have been grinded down it will have a hard time engaging....

SOURCE: 1994 ford explorer dies while driving

Easy Fix! I know exactly what ur talking about, had the same problem for ******* ever, and its not the fuel pump, trust me!!! and it will cost you absolutely nothing to fix! I don't know what the hell they're called exactly, but on the right side of your engine there's a black box, next to where you put the coolant in, with fuses in it. They look like one inch cubes and will say Ford right on top. One of them is for the fuel pump. Try switching it with one of the others, or just switching all of them around and ur car will fire up, but the one that's not working will cause something else not to work properly, but at least u'll now what the problem is. Than just do what I did: take one with you and go to a junk yard and pull out a bunch, they're the same on many ford vehicles, even the newer ones, like 2000, not just the explorer. Make sure its the same one, pull out a bunch, put em in ur pocket and leave without paying, nobody will notice anyways, but they're tricky to find at a parts store, surprisingly. When ur car is running beatiful again, come back to this post and tell me if I was right! God knows how many ours I spent in that car stranded, waiting for it to fire up. Sometimes it'd be 5 minutes, sometimes an hour, sometimes hours, even days. Never knew when it would or wouldn't. Thought is was the starter too! If it works, tell me!!!

91 ford ranger 3.0 has fuel and fire wont start

Hopefully, it is just the battery. Try and jump start it to see if that works. If you do jump it successfully, drive it immediately to your preferred auto parts store and have them install a new battery.

If that doesn't work, there could be an issue with one of the components of the ignition system (ignition coil, distributor, etc). A problem here could prevent enough energy being transferred to the spark plug to ignite the engine. If it isn't the battery, then you should have it towed in to a mechanic.

I have a 1994 ford Ranger 4.0 V6 It runs great but after about an hour it starts acting like it runs out of fuel dies and wont start again, i can hear my fuel pump working , it has a brand new fuel filter,...

Fuel caps have breather holes in them - once clogged the fuel tank is sucked vacuum and the engine stalls. Check the fuel tank cap for clogged breather holes.

Car quits running after about an hour.

Not the trans. Wouldn't have anything to do with engine performance or lack of it. First they should have ran it for a while and try to duplicate the problem. It sounds heat related or time running, to act up. The fuel pump could bind up mechanically. The diagnostic work and fuel sensor should not have been a place to stop off at. You have fuel volume and fuel pump amperage to check. You need a scan tool on it when it quits to get any data that may help out. It won't speculate on other issues without having the veh. You need to check all grounds,as in loose wires. Have to separate fuel from spark.
