In my 2007 ford crown victoria the dome light doesn't turn on when the doors open

If the lamp is good, then the door switch, is not

Try the passenger door to see if that works

Also most vehicles will have a delayed acc relay to keep
the radio on when the key is turned off & when you open
either front door it will go off, if the switches are good,as
well as turn on the dome light

Sounds like the multifunction switch. Try working the hazard switch up and down a few times to see if you get some lights to work. If so then replace the switch.

you must replace the multi fuction switch! also known as the turn signal switch! its common on ford crown vic!

Dome light will not shut off at all
Mat be a problem with the connections on your door locks.Sometimes spring the latches liberally with WD 40 and opening and closing the doors several times will free up the connection on the latch and make the light go out. Otherwise you have to disconnect the wire going to each door lock til you find the culprit .

It's not complicated !
when you turn on the overhead light with one or either switch you see 2 lights. BUT there's another bulb between them that is the one that comes on with a door opening. Remove cover and replace the burned out middle bulb.

Dome light doesnt turn on when the doors are opened
If it turns on with the switch at the light, then at least the bulb is good.
If neither door makes it work, then the switch in the light is probably bad.
Use a test light to see if contact is made right, in the fixture.

Check the bulb first, then the fuse. If none of these... it's your switch in the driver's side door.
