I FILLED UP MY 2003 CHEVY MALIBU WITH GAS AND THE GAS LEAKED ON THE GROUND. aNY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO START?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

How much fuel came out? When you filled up, did you stop as soon as the pump cut of or did you squeeze in a few extra cents? If you continued pumping after the pump cut off, the fuel leakage is likely coming from the overflow tube.

weird...first thing to do is get a scanner hooked up to see what caused the check engine light-free, at pretty much any retail auto parts operation-i wouldn't get overly concerned with the gas gauge right now, teh code that tripped the check engine light might explain that problem.

My 2003 Chevy Malibu suddenly lost power climbing a hill. The engine light started flashing. I was able to drive it home at 30 mph.

Could either be the ignition system - ie, coil packs, fuel filter, fuel pump, or bad gas. Was it sputtering?

Gas gauge malfunction and engine light stays on

This is a common problem with Malibu's. It is due to cheap metal in the fuel gage that corrodes. Chevrolet knows about this but they refuse to issue a fix. The check engine light staying on and the faulty fuel gage are related. This is a defect and they need to recall this part! Raise hell with the dealership!

1998 chevy malibu fuse question

Sounds like you have a ground problem, i doubt its in the sending units as both gauges are acting strange work, seeing that electricity likes paths of least resistance one gauge could be grounding through another. Bad grounds wreak havoc on electrical systems.
