This problem is caused by the door ajar switches inside the door that are attached to the door latch sticking, there are 1 for each door and 2 in the tailgate, the only simple way to fix this is to have ford do a scan of the system an ID which of the switches is sticking, otherwise you must de-trim/remove door panel on every door and the tailgate until u ID the defective one, and it could be more than one.

I took it to ford and was told that the problem had to happen when they had their computer hooked up to the car.

Have them replace the drivers front door switch first.

iI had the same problem I took the driver side door apart and go to the wire harness going up to the door ajar switch find the Dark Green/Purple wire and thr Yellow/Brown splice into those wires and ground them to the door. Yellow/Brown is the door ajar grounding completes the circut. Dark Green/Purple is the alarm dis able for that door. I did this for my 2002 and works

The alarm goes off all the time for no reason,,door ajar is always on..it locks and unlocks going down the road...wont start. just put in a new battery,,still nothing

It's in the driver door most likely do you have keyless entry and do you use your key to punch in the #s if so the seal is broken and letting water in if not the driver door module deals with all and also the door wire that's at the latch lock where you close the door that wire could be breaking making the interior and door ajar light comes on but all problems are in the driver door your master lock control keyless entry and alarm and door ajar all go through the driver door module check for moisture in it or corroded connections and broken wires also have fuses checked for blown ones have fun in your techno boogie box and if you do use your key press the key pad buttons get out of the habit

Anti theft system for 2002 ford explorer.

take this to the dealer and have them scan the system door ajar switches, one or more is sticking, this is the problem with the alarm most likely as well, the door ajar switches (there are 6 on a 4 door) are twisted into the door latch inside the door without scanning the GEM (generic electronic module, controls locks and windows and wipers) you would have to pull all the door panels and taligate and test a each switch, a very expensive time consuming job.

Door ajar alarm comes on while driving.

there is a switch in each door that senses the door is open, it is called the door ajar/courtesy light switch (imagine that), they stick and have this problem, replace it.

2002 Ford Explorer "Door Ajar" stays on and Alarm frequently goes

if the door ajar light is on then get a can of PB BLASTER at your local parts store and spray all the door latch assembleys really good and open and close each door about ten to fifteen times this will usually free up the ajar switch

Door ajar light remains on - 2002 ford explorer

Ford Explorer since 1995 has been using an in-door switch for the door jamb. Older versions used a plunger that you could easily test with with your fingers. The common problem is that the switch is not closed, this will cause your dome lite to be on, door ajar light on, and will malfunction any aftermarket auto alarm. Replace the switch, this is a known Ford problem.
