They have to be pressed in. VW dealers can do it on the car. The other solution is to remove the steering knuckle and get the bearings over to a machine shop and have them fix it.

you will need a hub puller , these are readily available and are for many vehicles , not one for the exact vehicle ,you will then need to take the hub to a garage to "press" out the old bearing and press the new one in , you couldn't afford to buy the press just for diy use
Had the same problem on my 2008 golf 1.9 TDI. Hooked up to a diagnostic machine problem showed up as injector breaking down. Common problem on golf where the harness on the injector becomes loose easy fix. Worse case scenario you may need new injector not expensive
i used a hammer, adjustable spanner and a screwdriver and remeber the copper grease, make sure its lubricated properly while you've got the chance. its quite an easy job on the golf, but just take your time as i've heard people rushing it and not tightening something properly.
