To get the rear break lines fixed ti would cost me $800 and to get the front ones replaced, they siad they would have totake the front clip off and the cab and it would cost me $2,300.00. Dear Matt,
I am so sorry to tell you........yes.
There is another approach to this problem that many thousands of people use every year.
I have used this approach many times myself, since I have had cars with this problem,. and fixed them for other people.
What your dealer is telling you is the cost of replacing the lines with OE parts.
(OE means original equipment. )
And yes, those lines are put onto the frame of the truck before the body is attached, so they really would have to remove the body to change them.
However.
What I and thousands of others have done is buy straight brake lines by the piece, different lengths according to what you need, and then hand bend them to fit the job.
That means the replacements will not be in the same places as the original, and may be longer or shorter than the original.
Your total cost of parts & labor should more approach about a few hundred dollars. ( Maybe 200 - 300?)
God bless your efforts.

SOURCE: Needing to replace the power steering pump on a

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery,(WARNING if you have the TheftLock Radio, make the system is off before doing anything that requires the battery to be disconnected)
Remove the radiator upper fan shroud,
Remove the serpentine belt,
Place a drain pan under the hoses to catch the fluid and remove the and remove the hoses from the hard lines coming out of the pump, making a note of which is which, stuff the end of a clean rag into each hose to prevent anything from getting inside it,
Using a pulley removal tool, remove the pulley from the pump,
Remove the four bolts from the rear of the pump( V8 has 4 bolts,V6 has 2 bolts ) and lift the pump out.
Installation,
Place the pump in it's mounting bracket and install the bolts, tighten them to 37 ft lbs.
Connect the hoses and tighten securely,
Press the pulley on the shaft using a pulley installation tool,DO NOT HAMMER IT ON,, the proper position is the front of the hub flush with the end of the shaft,
Install the serpentine belt,
Install the upper fan shroud,
Fill to the cold mark the correct of NEW fluid,
Re-connect the battery cable.
Bleed the system as follows,
Wheels straight ahead,
Start the engine and allow it to fast idle,
Check for leaks,
Re-check the fluid lever and add more if needed to keep it up to the Cold mark,
Move the steering wheel from side to side several times WITHOUT hitting the stops, this will work the air out of the system, keep adding fluid if needed during this process,
When the fluid level stops going down the system should be free of any trapped air,
Set the wheels straight ahead again and allow the engine to run for 5-10 minutes before shutting it down, re-check the fluid level,
Road test the vehicle and drive it long enough to get it up to normal operating temperature,
Re-check fluid level and fill it to the Hot level.

2004 Chevy HD 2500 ext cab v-8 vortec 6.0 liter 2 wheel drive. Let's see tons of problems misfire on cylinder 5 replaced coil(the issue), still runs like a beatin dog with one leg trying to chase the...

The sensor for the crankshaft position may be loose or misaligned. You may have a rust spot on the crankshaft interferring with the ability to pick up the #5 position.

Check out your alternator as stray electrical voltage will interfere with the pulses needed to fire individual plugs. Try WD40 on the wires to the coils(plugs) as stray voltage may jump to another plug.

You fixed what you identified, but how about injector pulses? Could easily misfire and give same effect as sparkmiss. You may need to get loaner tools from Autozone or others to test injectors with the lightbulb you insert in the injector harness.

I hope my solution is helpful.

I have a 1990 Chevy short wheels base truck, actualy it's a SS 454 edition, and the brake line to the rear is rusted and has a hole in it right above the gas tank. How is the best way to fix it?

Take a pair of cutters and cut the rusted line on both sides of the gas tank and at the fitting for the rubber hose going to the axle. Pull the line out from behind the tank (it is in plastic retainers so it may be hard but just pull, it will come). There should be a union near the front somewhere, cut the line there also. Use a roll of new bulk steel line and a DOUBLE flaring tool and the necessary fittings. Put the fitting for the rear on the line and flare it, tape the fitting to the line so it doesn't move while installing. Now roll some line out straight and fish it through between the tank and frame making any bends you need as you go. Bend line as needed and attach rear fitting to axle hose. Then cut, install fitting and flare front of line where needed. Attach front of line and bleed the system.

Antilock brake system engages on low speed stops on dry pavement on my 2004 Silverado.

The most likely cause is rust buildup under wheel speed sensors causing them to dislodge(lift up) from front hubs and read incorrectly. If recall has been performed to fix this problem...You may have to replace the appropriate hub in order to stop the ABS activation at low speeds. Let me know if i can help more.
