See if your getting spark at the ign. coil first (passengers side on that year) if you are change the crank shaft sensor making sure you mount it as close to the engine as possible so it never gives you trouble again.
if theres spark but its weak, it indicates low primary voltage, or build up of resistance in primary circuit or coil connections, coil itself, cap, rotor wires need inspection. i had an older one once that the testing lead to a corroded ignition switch, the warmer it got the more voltage was being dropped. i cleaned the contacts in the switch with an eraser. a different jeep with low spark i had to change the ballast resistor and locate it in the fresh air stream but that had duraspark
use a voltmeter and run tests. be sure you are not experiencing a voltage drop thru corroded parts or painted parts. i mean every connection from the post on the battery to every place it has a connector. i once had a coil bracket that had 32 ohms because of how it was faced, painted, and bolted on. you may notice that bracket will have more than one wire. The main ground cable. the black/tans from the pcm...etc
these grounds are in different places but most are RH side of eng. and easy to get to. they have to be clean and tight. the body of the coil seats on the bracket for a case ground also as i recall

Replace the Coil/s. If the coil is weak then it can only be coil, plugs or the plug leads.

OK...I have a 93 outside...one diagram I have shows an ignition module next to coil...but there is none on mine, (4.0 engine)
Two items to check are crank sensor and cam sensor inside distributor. Test procedure can be found in just about any manual including haynes.
You will need a decent volt/ohm meter to do testing. You can also check codes by turning ignition switch on/off three times, leaving it on the third time. Check engine will flash code #'s (ex: one flash, pause two flashes= the number twelve.then followed by a longer pause then another set of flashes etc.)

my 1996 jeep is doing the same thing.the fuse I have been changing is under hood in fuse panel on left 20 amp sm. in center of fuse panel closest to bat.

they have crankshaft sencers on the transmission on jeeps. it would be up high on the drivers side on front of transmission. they will cause it to not get fuel or fire and can run then quit.

IF YOU PULL OUT CAM SENSOR YOU HAVE TO PUT A TOOTH PICK IN THE TWO HOLES ON THE TOP AND THEN PUT IT BACK IN AND FACE IT TO THE BACK OF THE ENGINE.KING OF 4.0

it most definately is the crank shaft sensor. same exact prob i had. it costs about 60 bucks and 3 minutes to replace yourself. one bolt holds it into the transmission bell housing and one connector wire. very simple fix. call off the wrecker. just have plenty of ratchet extensions available i had to go in from behind the transfer case to reach the bolt but it was still pretty simple to install.
