You only need to disconnect negative battery cable to make it safe to work on.

try the under the hood fuse first, it has a 60 amp large fuse it may have shorted out and maybe you didn't even need a new battery

i can tell you but its much easier of you go to your local library or the local book or auto store and buy or lend the manual and use that as a guide so you dont break any connectors and it has a diagram of where the screws are

I always recommend purchasing the service manual. It will give you everything step by step bolt by bolt. I always purchase the service manual for my vehicles.

hoanestly id find a manual onling just google your car year make and your type jsut add manuals after youll get the correct manual you can get a book orderd or get a printable version off there they may be free or pay by pay pal or a similar sight id suggest getting a book one due to the fact youll have it on hand incase you are a do it "yourselfer" youll be able to look up part numbers and such in there good luck
