2001 Hyundai Accent cranks, won't start

Have been told it's: water in the cap (no) plugged fuel filter (where is it?) weak fuel pump (where is it?)

went to buy this car. wouldn't start. got a call next day that mechanic had dried out water from under plug wire cover and car starts. went back, car started many times, bought car. got car home, next day took to get tires. tire place called, couldn't get car started. appears to be same problem, but no water ANYWHERE. called who we bought it from, was told that mechanic said ''water on plug wires'' caused the no-start.

THERE'S NO WATER around anything. Would appreciate all assistance with this problem. Thank you.

Finally gave in and took car in to shop.

Head gasket WATER LEAK onto wiring for "camshaft position sensor" wiring and shorting it out.

Result: Car dies, won't start until wiring dries out.

Solution, replace head gasket, which fixes leak, which fixes problem.

Its the camshaft position sensor . Its located (atleast on my 1.6L) to the right of the front HOT plate the conection runs between the engine and the right side fan. easier to work on if you take off the air intake thats by the left front side of the battery. you will be working between the fan and the motor. only one bolt but is tricky so u need a 1/4 inch nuckle with a 1/4 extention. once located and you have the right tools it will only take 30 minutes to replace....dont forget to take off negative battery cable before you start.

The fuel filter is under the back seat. you have to take the seat out and there is an access panel for the filter.the fuel pump is in the gas tank.

I install a new fuel pump in a 2001 hyundai accent and now it wont start, whats wrong.

Was it running before you worked on it? If so, double check your work.
Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Did you check good voltage and ground for fuel pump motor at the wiring connector?
If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, I don't care if the pump is new, check fuel pressure, anyway. Also, check fuel injector pulse. Only crank the starter motor a few seconds at a time, let it cool off.
Are there any applicable trouble codes? How long since over-all tune-up?

I have a 01 four door Hyundai accent and it won't start what might be the problem

Does it turn over?when you turn key? if it does start looking to see if you are getting a spark at the coil,Than at the spark plug wires leading to spark plugs,,if you are getting spark get a pressure test done on the fuel pump, also have the fuel filter change,This vehecle probly has high mileage,Right? these are the things that accompany high miles

2001 Accent, suddenly won't start

your model doesn't use an Inertia cut off switch for the fuel pump, chances are the fuel pump has just failed, they do that quite often.
