Have a 2006 kia rio, took it in to the dealership a week and a half ago. they upgraded the items kia had notified about. after waiting 3 hours, they told us that nothing was wrong with the car. yesterday, husband called while coming home from work and said that the car had shut off on him while he was driving. this is a new problem in addition to the car jerking when you attempt to accelerate from a stop, and stalling randomly. (husband stated car stalled in an intersection while he was driving) we are taking it BACK into the dealership tomorrow. no idea what is wrong with it, although most people claim the transmission is slipping? how would that be fixed, if that is the problem, and around how much would it cost? (we are in south carolina) If you think we have a different problem, I would love to know your opinion. I'm sure you'll be much more help than this dealership has been. Thank you! - Brittany.
Atuomatic trans sliping , or manual trans clutch sliping should not cause stall. sounds more like fuel or ignition problem.
I am thinking that one of the " upgraded items " ?? is not much of an upgrade.
Be carefull of kia's , The timing belts are famous for breaking and destroying the engine even before the recomended replacement mielage.. If it breaks , they don't warantee it because you never had the belt adjusted. Funny , they recomend adjustments but not part of the scheduled maintainance.
when your car starts geting close to 80,000 Km's / 50,000 miles have the belt done , but I wouldn't have it done at a dealership. It's a 1/2 hr job that a dealership might charge 2 hours for. I avoid dealerships ( for any make of car ) at all costs , unless they are doing free warantee or recall work. ( I take that back , I have had good experiances with Honda dealerships )
