I have a 2006 Xterra with the airbag sensor light blinking. This car has been a problem a month after I bought it. Does anyone knows what it could be?
My airbag light is blinking. I've already tried the trick where you start and stop 3 times, throwing it in to a diagnostic mode. It stays off for a day or two, but then comes back on.
Is my only choice to take it to a dealer??
Good luck and safe driving..
The procedure is as follows:
1. Turn key to the ON position. Wait until the airbag light turns off then immediately turn the key to the off position.
2. Wait 5 Seconds
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 two more times
4. Turn key on and wait until the air bag light starts to flash slowly
5. Wait 10 seconds
6. Turn off the car
7. Turns it back on and the air bag light should now longer be flashing.
Take it to an independent specialist mechanic to get the codes read and a suggested plan of action

The main thing to remember when messing around with the air bags is that it doesn't take much to set them off. I ave seen them inflate just by unplugging and pluging them back in. I suggest the dealer as your safest bet.

Sounds like your mechanic installed something per your request. Unfortunately, you have to order the specific part for your vehicle or the light will stay on because the vehicle computer is not detecting a secong airbag.

I just got a recall notice on mine. Something about a sensor being thrown off by rock salt. Call your dealer.
SOURCE: My airbag light just came on.
Airbag light came on for me shortly after buying it... apparently a bad censor but came on again shortly afterwards... Apparently the car is known to have a bad sensor somewhere for the airbags.
If the check engine light stays on it has something to do w/ your fuel line... be it anywhere from the cap all the way to the tip of your exhaust. When it FLASHES there's something MAJORLY wrong, like mine likes to misfire lately....
I believe there was a recall on the headlight wires and safteybelt sensor?

The first code is for "driver seat track position sensor low". The module detects that the sensor input is less than or equal to 0.3 mA. The second code is referring to the first code. I have no idea what the third code is. Basically you have two different communication systems mixed. The 2001 uses the PCI bus system and the 2007 uses the CAN bus which is much faster. The first code is a CAN bus code and the second is a PCI code. As far as the airbag deploying in the event of a collision, I don't believe it will with an active code in the system. I hope this helps.
