Hello and welcome. here is the instructions for removing the trans filter. you will need to drop the bottom trans pan off to gain access to the filter.
Remove the oil pan bolts from only the front and the sides.
Loosen the rear oil pan bolts about 4 turns.
Lightly tap the oil pan with a rubber mallet or pry in order to allow the fluid to drain.
Remove the remaining oil pan bolts.
Remove the oil pan.
Install the oil pan attaching bolts. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
this light will generate a fault code have the dealer run the test, there is a 70,000 mile warranty on most anything that truns this fault light on. It is not the oil change.
if you've never done this before, i wouldn't experiment...instead, find a friendly mechanic that will do the job and allow you to look on as he completes the work :o) P.S. ALWAYS take your own WALMART oil filter and use MOBIL ONE, I think your car is 5W20 and takes 4 qts. Then only change the filter every 5k-(when you rotate the tires) and at 15k do a complete drain and filter! Good Luck
One sure way to tell, is if your transmission fluid is not cherry red. Its supposed to be a bright red color. If its not, then you should have it flushed out and replaced. Good luck.
