Check the circuit breaker in the fuse panel on the driver side kick panel. It is a small brown push button directly above the replaceable fuses. My girlfriend has the same year trooper and this has happened to her in the past. I found the breaker and it took care of the issue.

SOURCE: 2002 isuzu trooper looses power on climbing, not responding to acceleration

Is the transmission dropping down to lower gear when climbing ? (automatic only ) Will it accelerate good to pass on level road?
Proper fuel pressure, and possible exhaust restriction, such as partially plugged/plugged catalytic converter, are 2 things I would check as well. All provided engine is also in good shape to begin with.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=isuzu+trooper+winter+button&ia=web

found this info: "The available 4-speed automatic features a winter mode. When it's engaged, the transmission starts out in third gear to prevent wheelspin on icy or snowy surfaces. The transmission also has a power mode that gives better acceleration by raising up-shift points. Both modes are controlled by well-placed pushbuttons in the center console."

all with google or DD in 5 seconds work,,,,,

I just bought a 2002 trooper, 142k miles. Where is the transmission / power steering dip stick ?

The transmission doesn't have a dip stick you will have to take some where and have them check it, unless you feel comfortable doing it your self. The power steering on the other hand. If you pop the hood look around you should see a black cap that says powersteering fluid, when you take the cap off it should have a dip stick attached to the lid if not there will be a fluid level mark on the side of the tank, which you took the lid off of.

2002 trooper A/T 4WD will not move from start or stop.

One of two things has happened. Either you have lost first and second gear in your tranny (Winter drive starts you out in third gear) or your TCM (Transmission control module) is shot.

Check the TCM first, it's the lesser (cheaper) of the two evils.

Yes that is true. My problem with this suv 2002 trooper 4wheel drive is that it nutralizes at stop or low speed. To move from from a stop, i will have to engage the winter drive. this is all the time. I...

winter mode engages take of in 3rd gear. sounds like you have got a serious trans problem, mainly with lower gears. Can you manually select low or 1st gear and get it?
if you can then range selector switch could be faulty(neutral saftey switch) is the P,R,N,D,2,L lighting up in instrument cluster to display what gear your in? if its not working properly then range selection switch is faulty
if these are ok more major trans internal problems

99 trooper with TOD how do i know if it is on

Power drive delays the shift points for upshift of the automatic transmission. It will degrade fuel economy, but you'll get more peppy performance.

Winter drive will only engage if the vehicle speed is below a certain threshold (I think 23 miles per hour) - and only if the vehicle is in Reverse, Neutral, or Drive. It causes the automatic transmission to start off in 3rd gear (rather than 1st gear). The purpose is to provide power, but not torque to the tires. In winter driving, torque increases the probablility of the tires spinning. The vehicle will seem to be VERY sluggish when winter driving is engaged - which is completely normal behaviour. It will automatically disengage when vehicle speed increases above the threshold.

We have a 1998 Trooper that had the same problem. The fix was an electronic switch for the 4WD - a vacuum sensor - on the front axle that just plugs in. You can see it - if you look under the car from the front, it's mounted in the middle of the front axle. It cost $175 from the dealer. We had somebody install it for $50. Don't know where you live, but they are exposed and can corrode. That's what happened to ours. Good luck - hope it's the same problem. This was an easy fix, and we were pleased.
