Reading Error Codes 97 Eldorado

If you are not reading that as a torque converter clutch solenoid error then you have another code set that you are looking at. What is the performance issue that you are having?

Not all OBD-2 scanners are created equal. Most only read power-train (engine/transmission) codes and are not capable of reading ABS codes. Some scanners even have a specific button you have to press to get ABS codes. Try a different scanner. I know places like Auto Zone will scan codes for free but not every store has the same reader. The AZ nearest to me has the ABS capable scanner while the one on the other side of town can't read ABS codes.

Take a look at your air con controls on the centre console.

You will see an "OFF" button and to the right of this you will see a toggle switch with an up arrow with the word "PASS" just below it.

Simultaneously press the "OFF" button and the up arrow together for three seconds or so and release when you see the instrument cluster lights come on.
You are now in diagnostic mode.
Read the codes from the digital display on the instrument cluster.
Have a pen and note pad ready to write down the codes.

You have a trouble code in the ABS. You need to have it scanned for codes or you can scan it yourself with the onboard diagnostics. You likely have a bad wheel speed sensor.

What you will need to do is get the theft deterrent codes read.This will help in finding the problem.You will probably have a B 2960.The problem is usually the ignition lock cylinder.This reads the key and if it sees the correct code it allows fuel to the motor.What usually happens is the wires break from the ignition cylinder being turned on and off all the time.Hope this helps.Good luck.

This is usually used for retrieving fault codes from the cars computer and for reading emmisions and clearing check engine Lt on the dash, running engine diagnostics, etc.

YES. THERE IS. BUT IF YOU HAVE A RADIO CODE. NOW IS THE TIME TO RETRIEVE IT AND WRITE IT DOWN. AFTER THAT IS DONE THEN DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE MARKED NEGATIVE AND WAIT ABOUT 10 MINUTES. RECONNECT THE CABLE AND THE COMPUTER WILL HAVE ERASED THE CODES. RESET THE RADIO CODE AND RESET THE CLOCK AND YOUR DONE. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT. LET ME KNOW. BEST OF LUCK

yes and no disconnect the battery both sides, now without touching the battery touch black to red wires, this resets any codes. if the light comes back on you will need a pcm scan to get any error codes from it.

what are the codes that are coming up? I have a service manual. They should start with eoor ei and two digits or b and three digits reply
