2004 Jaguar X-Type Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 14, 2013

Hi, I have a 2004 Jag x-type with navigation. I recently had the drive shaft replaced and ever since I got the car back the cd player won't work. When you stick a cd in it, it doesn't pull it in like normal. So I push it in and it says "no disc". The radio and navigation system and everything else work fine, just the cd player. Any idea how to fix? I called a local stereo shop and they said once the factory cd player goes out there's no fixing them, is this true? Also said they can't even hook up a new one to it since it has navigation. Is there any solutions or am I just doomed to listen to the radio from now on?

SOURCE: jaguar x type

I have the same car and had same problem. Your water pump needs to be replaced. That is where the leak is. Not a major job nor that expensive. I recommend using the green 2-year coolant vs. the orange 5-year coolant. The 5 year coolant does not protect well against cavitation (exploding bubbles) which is what caused your water pump leak. (You can research this on the I-net). The standard 2-yr coolant does protect against cavitation.

most likely the ran it up on the lift and that triggers all these. you should be able to bring it any local garage and they should clear it.

Hi Jagman

I suspect this could be your battery at fault.

Get it heavy discharge tested first.

Good Luck.

Transfer case replacement costs

transfer cases are those bits that are bolted to the rear of a gear box to give ratio changes and drives to front and rear wheels. On some vehicles it can be done in vehicle as the case has external bolts and slides onto a splined output shaft from the gear box . On others the whole case has to come out as the bolts are internal. I am curious as the heading is for an X type jag 2004 and is it a 4 wd

How do i getxtype jaguar key apart to fit new shaft

You don't.

It's moulded in during manufacturing; all you can do is buy a complete replacement key and get it programmed to the car (take all of your Jag keys along as they all get reprogrammed together to the engine ECU).

CD player play and stop in cold weather

Usually a defective drive belt in the CD player that couples the motor to the disk shaft. It's almost always a pain to replace it so I recommend finding a tech that knows how to change it. Sometimes you can buy a replacement cheaper than paying to fix it. The Crutchfield company has very capable techs that can recommend a replacement for your player.
