The alternator is bad, it is not charging the battery, to confirm it get another battery, then start and remove one battery head if it goes off, that means the alternator is bad.
Hello,
Purchase the replacement light you need from an auto parts store. Give them the year and particular Saturn S Series model number to acquire the right part. Also indicate whether you need the high or low beam light bulb, as some S Series models require separate bulbs.
Turn off the engine. Pop the hood and secure it open. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery by grasping the cable and pulling it straight off of the positive and negative battery terminals.
Position yourself in front of the headlight you wish to repair. Look behind the headlight assembly to find the wiring harness for the headlight assembly. Lift the locking tab, grab the wiring harness and pull the wiring directly away from the assembly.
Grab the old headlight bulb, twist it counterclockwise and pull it out of the headlight assembly. Replace it with a new bulb and secure it by turning it clockwise.
Reconnect the wiring harness to the headlight assembly and reconnect the battery cables. Test the lights to see if they work properly.
If you remove the tray , the battery will still be stuck on it because of
the metal covering the line of plastic which is on the battery.
There must be a rectangular box in front of the battery that slides up off a
metal plate that is secured by the same bolt holding down the front of
the battery. Once you slide off the rectangular box, the bolt is more
easily accessible.
Undo the bolt, there's one at the base on the back (side of the connectors). You'll need a long socket wrench connector
make sure the battery is fully charged on a charge out side of the car. reinstall after charged. your battery may have been damaged when the altenator failed. also make sure you belt is tight and in ther proper orenitation.
the light is across one diode in the rectifier pack in the alternator, usually there are 9 of them, one of yours has failed, probably the failed diode is leaking current and draining the battery. In this instance the battery will be good (if drained) and the other 8 diodes will show a good charge.Get the current drain checked with everything switched off
the alternator has a circuit in it that illuminates the battery light on the dash.that circuit is most likely at fault but because the battery went dead once i would think your alternator is just about at the end of it's useful life.
remove and clean battery terminals( wear safety glasses acid is not friendly) charge battery then test at parts store to ensure battery is good reinstall, if that doesn't work replace starter
cant find my battery
