Engin light on after an oil change and break job

What could it be for a 2004 VW Jetta 1.8 T to have an engin light on especially that it has only 57,000 miles on it?
it had this porblem earlier but got fixed due to some water pump problem, it was under warranty, so there was no issue, but now!! I had it when it had only 33,000 and since then I spend over 2,000 fixing it.
do you think it's worth to keep it?? or get rid of it???
thanks for your honest openion.

Two things, check and make sure the oil dipstick plastic tube isn't borken. If it is replace it. #2 have code downloaded to find the area where the computer sees the problem.
Honest opinion, VW are expensive to maintain. Usually double. If that isn't good for you, repair this problem and buy a Civic or Corolla

My oil light came on yesterday and I checked the oil. It was empty, it never has had to have oil added to it between changing and now it's empty. Someone told me it might be the oil sendor, so I want to...

Hi,
Sounds like the oil light and sender are doing their job. They are telling you, you are losing oil pressure. That will happen if you are low on oil or have pressure problems. Add oil and see if the light goes out and pressure returns. You may have leaks or a worn out engine.

Brake light needs replacing. Manual states "take to VW dealer" Can't I replace it myself?

I just called my local Autozone and asked for a brake light for a 2004 Jetta, they asked the engine size. I told them I was looking for a buddy of mine and I don't know the engine size. I told them the take to a dealer thing in the manual. They sell the bulbs for around $6. They are Sylvania. If it were a dealer only thing autozone wouldn't sell the bulb. Take it to your local autozone/pep boys/advanced auto store and they will replace it for you at no extra charge. I know autozone does this for sure. If you can do it yourself just remember to wear gloves to prevent the oil from your finger prints from getting on the bulb. This is especially true for headlights. The oil can burn thru the glass and blow the bulb prematurely

2006 jetta tdi oil change

Consult the Owner's Manual, or view the oil specifications on the fill cal or dipstick (usually the fill cap) located under the hood. Depending upon mileage you may not want to vary from manufacture specifications, or risk voiding your vehicle's warranty should any remain. The VW TDI's are typically high maintenance engines. I would strongly recommend staying with the manufacture's oil specifications, and do not overfill the oil in your vehicle.

2004 Jetta: my check engine light is on in my car im not sure ...

VW's somehow got around disclosing what the check engine lite codes mean to anyone except a VW Dealer. Therefore, to eliminate another service charge from a local repair shop I recommend you take the vehicle to VW and have them scan the vehicle's ECU for codes and do the repair accordingly.

Check engine light on for sometime; Response to throttle sluggish

If your catalytic converter is "below efficiency" or otherwise clogged, you will lose power as you drive and the vehicle heats. The more you drive the vehicle, the worse the problem will become. The exhaust can't escape properly through the catalytic converter, therefore your engine won't run properly. Your issues are related, and if you replace your catalytic converter they should go away.

Oil light blinks on my 2004 vw jetta

has the dealer hooked up a mechanical test guage to see if the oil pressure is really low? If it is low make them fix it, low oil pressure will destroy the engine in a very short time. Low oil pressure is caused by either worn engine bearings or a defective oil pump.

Changed oil in 05 vw jetta and exhaust light came on.

Hi Dohn. The save levelto fill you oil is 3/4 from empty on your dip stick. This gives the engine space to breath. What has most likely happened here is, the engine has had too much oil and is trying to find a way out which will end up on your drive or through yor exhaust.
