I had the brake light switch replaced by a local dealer. Cost was $140 and it fixed the problem. Have driven the car for two weeks since and no lights and all systems normal.

It's probably your brake check switch going bad, it's under the driver's side dash above the brake pedal. I had the same problem and eventually my cruise control and brake lights stopped working when it failed completely. This is also a redesigned part that you can get from the dealer for about $8, which to me indicates they new the part caused problems and failed to notify owners. Try that before Audit tries telling you wires are faulty.

If you need to repair the brake module, there is a fantastic article, complete with photos, at http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec116.shtml

I followed this example for my '98 and now it works perfectly. I found a shop on eBay to rebuild my module (lifetime warranty) for under $200. It took me about 1 hour to pull it off and about 45 min to put it back on with minimum shop tools

That indicates that the ABS controller is having issues. The ABS controller is the metal box along the driver's side of the engine, just in front of the coolant overflow tank. The controller is the black box on top of it with the harness attached. You can buy a new one (expensive) or send yours to www.modulemaster.com for a warrantied rebuild. They have a great reputation on the Audi forums I frequent, and you can drive the car while it's gone (you just won't have functioning ABS while it's gone).

2006 audi A6 ESP light problem ESP light comes

A good place to start is the brake light switch.
There are 2 circuits in there: 1 for the brake lights and the other for the car computer (ESP, Engine brake etc...)
If the brake switch has an intermittent fault, the EPS light may come on and the car may run rough until you stop the vehicle and remove the key. It then re-set itself until the next time you are using the brakes and the fault appears again.

Service the anti lock brake system and have a diagnostic test done to find out exactly what parts are giving you the trouble codes.

Brake lights stay on all time on audi a6 2004 model

The brake switch that is located just above the brake pedal is either out of adjustment and button is stuck on and you just need to move it around and put back in place. or the switch is faulty and needs to be replaced.
