Battery light on dash stays on 2000 Pontiac montana

The battery light stays on after starting. the battery is running at 14.4 volts and the alternator checks out ok also. I am running an alternator smaller than I probably should. Can this cause the problem. The Montana should nave a 120 amp. and I have a 102 amp. Is the computer looking for the higher amps, therefore detecting a problem that is really not their.

Thanks for your help.

2005 Pontiac Montana Battery runs down overnight if voltmeter on the dash indicates a charging rate of 14.9 volts. Bad sticking? voltage regulator?

Could be. The three most things I replace for power draws are the alternator, starter, and the radio. Fourth things are the light switch and ignition switch. There are many other things that can drain a battery. Get it on a scanner and have it diagnosed. It will cost. But it is cheaper than pay a thousand dollars for the aboved mentioned.

2005 Pontiac Montana Battery runs down overnight if voltmeter on the dash indicates a charging rate of 1q4.9 volts of higher. Bad sticking? voltage regulator?

Replace the alternator, bad diodes in it allow the battery to discharge. Most all alternators now have built in regulators.

2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

Lights flicker and batt has been going dead

alternator fault check with a meter but would say the bushes inside have worn out. cheaper to replace the hole unit. put meter on battery with out engine running nothing on. should be a round 12.05 volts. then test again with engine running no lights should be around 13-14 volts fairly steady if it is jumping all over the place then it is defo the altinator. .

2000 pontiac grandam GT will not start. Battery will not take a charge. Charger dial goes back and forth real fast. After, got in to start it, lights blinking, horn honked once by itself. Nothing now....

check alternator. when engine is running there should be at least 14 volts or a bit higher at battery. when off at battery it should read no lower then 13 volts. check alternator, the pcm may have lost its power, so everything is going crazy.

My 02 montana sounds like it's not gettin enough

Check the voltage at your battery terminals while the car is running. Should be putting out between 14-14.4 volts. If its putting out less than that, then its probibly your alternator
