I HAVE 98 BUICK LESABRE CUSTOM THAT CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING I HAVE REPLACED THE IGNITION MODULE AND THE COIL PACKS AND STILL CUTS OFF ANY HELP WOULD BE AMAZING
I also have a 98 Buick Lesabre that cuts off while driving..I have replaced the ingition module, crankshaft postion sensor, camshaft position sensor, removed and cleanead all grounds. and still have the same problem..I do know for sure that it is an ignition problem.I also have a 98 Buick Lesabre that cuts off while driving..I have replaced the ingition module, crankshaft postion sensor, camshaft position sensor, removed and cleanead all grounds. and still have the same problem..I do know for sure that it is an ignition problem.
My buick lesabre also cuts off occasionally while driving. Had mass airflow sensor changed, ran okay for several hundred miles now doing it again. Know nothing about cars, but is there anyway it could be related to this:
Had my window regulator changed and the door frame is not on correctly. My door agar light and interior lights stay on entire time i'm driving. Shop won't acknowledge it or even align the door correctly. They say my door is warped and uplugged the regulator saying it would burn out quickly. (Had door worked on before, never a problem) I only wonder if it's related because when my car shuts off all lights go out except the battery and security light. My buick lesabre also cuts off occasionally while driving. The problem is the crankshaft sensor for sure. It is mounted behind the crankshaft pulley which is pretty difficult to get off as you need a special puller. A shop should charge about 1.5 hours for this job. It is a very common problem.

If the other two coils are working fine yet the other coil won't work at all [no spark out of either tower] then odds are that the ignition module that the coils are mounted on is bad. Often the module will be damaged when a coil or plug wire goes bad and the extremely high spark voltage finds an alternative path back home which is often through the body of the module This high voltage can damage the electronic components inside the module enough that it may no longer be able to drive the coil. Never hurts to double check your plug wires by substituting a couple of known good ones or swap one of the other coils around with this one but if you still don't have any spark after doing all that then it's most likely the module that's bad. Hope this helps a bit and good luck!
first is making sure fuel preasure is good at time of shut down and at restart when skiping if fuelpreasure remains good then i would say you might have aproblem with the coil packs or the control module, good luck.
the coils are one integrated block with 3 separate segments. the coil pack is mounted to the ignition module and can be unbolted from each other. one can test the coils from the underside of the coilpack with a dvom. having said that your car should still start if one paired coil fails, it would however miss on one or two cylinders. I would suggest to scan for codes, monitor live sensor data to see if you have a valid crank signal, check fuel pressure and spark voltage
It is very likely the part that is giving you the problem is a Crankshaft Position Sensor, they go open circuit when they get hot, then after it cools it becomes a good circuit again, this is very frustrating, had the same issue with my Buick a few years ago, replaced the coils and the ignition module at a cost of hundreds, DID NOT CHANGE A THING, the crank sensor fixed the problem and was $30.00 from Buick.
