It shouldn't be that hard. There should be screws in the panel. I never removed a radio from a 96 Riv. But remove the panel that centers around the original radio. There are probably other screws that hold the radio in the dash. If you are installing an after-market radio such as Pioneer, Kenwood etc... check with a Buick dealer just to make sure that the original radio is not tide in to the computer in the car. I know later model Cadillacs such as the later 90's or 2000's and up Cadillacs are like that, and if you remove and install an after-market radio the on-board computer won't work. Hope this info helps you!!
Hi, The PO742 is a transmission code representing the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) release switch. To throw this code, there is either an electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic issue.
If you are extremely mechanically inclined, you will need to check the TCC solenoid, verify the connections of internal wiring harness, and perform an overall diagnosis of the transmission's condition, which will require removal of the transmission.
Given that you have a 4T65-E Transmission I would highly recommend taking it to a good transmission shop, this is not a 'quick' fix issue. Good luck and Godspeed.
THE TCC SOLENOID LOCATED ON THE VALVE BODY. IF YOU HAVE RWD TCC SOLENOID BOTTOM PAN VALVE BODY IF YOU HAVE FWD VECHICLE TCC SOLENOID IN THE SIDE PAN VALVE BODY. RWD IS REAR WHEEL DRIVE AND FWD IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.
the 96-99 had a recall fault with this one, maybe yours fits in the same catagory.Check with Hyundai dealership, irrespective of vehicle age. Also check that there is no fuel odor outside the vehicle, and that the fuel cap is sealing correctly.(when removing this after a warm day there should be a whoosh or shhh sound as it releases). There is an official release report on this but for some reason I couldnt get it to post on here for you.I will try again soon to do that. I hope this helps you.Get back with your findings and we can go further if needed.
open the drivers door; slide the rubber grommet containing the wiring to the door into the door; i wouldnt be surprized if you have multiple broken door wires; if so you should be able to get some 18-22 gauge crimp connectors to fix; had this problem on my 95 riv and it is a common prob on 95-96 rivs
