My airbag light and dinger goes off every few minutes in my PT Cruiser. How can I get it to stop?

The warning light means that a fault has occurred in the Airbag system (known as the "SRS" system), when this light is on the SRS system is disabled, so no the Airbag can't go off because the controller module has turned it off completely. Get it fixed ASAP because right now if you have an accident your SRS system will not work (Airbags will not deploy) to save you from injury.

the airbag light needs a diagnostic tool to reset it to switch it off


you can buy them from ebay depending on the make model and year of your vehicle




make sure the tool you select has the airbag feature to reset your air bag

possible wire broken at seat belt buckle or the position sensor on seat damage are you alone or have something on the seat less than 30lbs like a purse or computer,packsack etc this will cause the airbag light on try to buckle the seat and see if it goes off

your car has several air bags and quite a few different sensors and such. you will need to have the codes pulled and diagnosed by a qualified technician.

I assume that the airbag has been deployed,and you do not have a new one as of yet.Get your new one first and that will shine a light on how it goes in.Wife has a 01 PT and it just pushes in on two steel pins that come to a point.The pins have a grove in them that snaps into two retainer clips in the steering wheel.A word of advice...replace the retaining clips in the steering wheel as well.Wife had airbag replaced then months latter was hit from behind.Air bag flew out and rite up side the head.Trust me they are not light.Ended up in rear of car.Don't skimp like the body shop did.

take it to the dealer and have it checked out. it might be a faulty sensor and you want to make sure that if you ever get into a fender bender that youre protected,

is your vehicle equipped with a passenger side airbag off switch you turn w/ the key?turn it on
