Wow, if you're going through that many starters, it is not a starter problem. I am not sure how you're turning the flywheel, but that seems to be the answer to me. Apparently the fly wheel and the starters pinion are not meshing together as they should. I would have to guess that it is your flywheel that is damaging your starter(s) and it may need replacing. I would check the teeth on the flywheel for any chips, dents, etc.
Sounds like the teeth on the flywheel ring gear are damaged.

It could be the flywheel, but try putting different size shims in between the starter and engine.The starter might be a little to tight against the flywheel. You should be able to get the starter shims at any auto parts store, or ask where you can get some.

Sounds like the starter drive is shot, best thing to do is replace starter with new or rebuild.
Does it turn over as it grinds or does it just gring?
