In a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan SE with a 3.3 V6 engine, there are several fuses that you can check if the front heat/air/defrost is not working. These fuses are located in the engine compartment and in the passenger compartment fuse box.
To check the fuses in the engine compartment:
Locate the fuse box cover on the driver's side of the engine compartment. Remove the cover by pressing in the tabs on the sides of the cover. Look at the fuse diagram on the inside of the cover or in the owner's manual to determine which fuses to check. The fuses related to the front heat/air/defrost are typically labeled "HVAC" or "Blower Motor." Use a fuse tester or a multimeter to test the fuses. If the fuse is blown, it will need to be replaced. To check the fuses in the passenger compartment fuse box:
Locate the fuse box under the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle. If checking the fuses does not resolve the issue with the front heat/air/defrost, there may be a problem with the blower motor or the HVAC system
Pull the blower motor out and clean out the leaves and other vegetable matter that has gotten in there, it is burning off on the very hot blower motor resistor coils
the blower motor is under the hood on the pass side. u have to remove the wiper and radiator bottles and also the head light. than take out the 7 bolts that hold the blower motor in than u have to remove the squirel cage before the motor will come out. or it could be the Blower Motor Resistor.
The problem is that the plastic lines that the air flows through get frail and cracks and breaks. What happens is when the hose breaks you loose vacuum and the system reverts to defrost mode. You should be able to see it from under the hood on the passengers side. You will have to find the area that is broken and then go to the parts store and get some rubber hose that will fit over the plastic hose.Take a piece of the plastic hose with you so you can get the right size hose to fit over it.This just happened to my 97 Astro van.I found the broken hose and repaired it with the rubber line and is working normal now.Hope this helps.Let me know what you find out.Good luck.
The blower motor is either bad, or if you hear it blowing in the front but nothing comes out of the vents, then it's a vacuum motor problem. The flaps aren't angled right to allow air to come out of the vents (either for a/c, heat, or defrost).
TRY JUMPING THE BLOWER MOTOR APPLY 12 VOLTS TO THE MOTOR IF IT STARTS THEN THE PROBLEM WOULD BE THE SWITCH IF IT DOES NOT START THEN THE MOTOR IS THE PROBLEM GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS
Check the plenum door motors (vacuum controllers). When you move control you should see each of them move. the one that does not respond is the one that isn't working. Check hose that feeds it as well if no vacuum there switch control is bad.)
