After driving for about 15 mins on the freeway i will be driving about 65-75mph and i will let off the gas and the car will die, but the lights and radio and all other electronics work.when i try to start it immediatley afterwards, it will turn over, but not start.if i let the car sit for a couple of mins(3-5 on avg)then it will start right back up.after it starts up, then it will only run for a short period of time before it dies again, each time it dies, the time that it runs before it dies again becomes shorter and shorter(in one "session" i guess u could say).i have replaced the fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires, and the battery and alternator are good.please help me this is driving me crazy!
To Mike71062 Your diagnosis was 100% Correct! I took My car to Greenfield Collision in Washington, MI for a small repair job and they stole my new Crank Position Sensor and "So Many" other good parts off my very nice PT Cruiser. When my car failed again shortly after I picked up my car from Greenfield, I knew right away that they had stolen my new "Crank Position Sensor", that tipped me off to look for more parts that they had stripped off my car, and the list was extremely shocking as to what they have stolen from my very nice PT Cruiser. To Mike71062 Your diagnosis was 100% Correct!

I have the same problem with my 99 sebring lxi, I'm getting a new ecu for the transmission and the engine, hopefully that fixes it. Did the car randomly die and wouldn't start again or when driving keep the transmission in one gear and wouldn't change?
Sounds like a charging system issue. Just because the alternator itself tested fine doesn't mean it's getting power to the car and battery. Charge the battery and start the car (with everything connected normally, including alternator). While car is idling, disconnect the battery (negative post wI'll do). If car dies, there's a problem with the alternator wiring/harness. Once the vehicle is running, the alternator should provide plenty of power. Check voltage at battery (from alternator) and should be around 14V. Check alternator fuse. Could be the voltage regulator in the alternator going out, which would need a new alternator.
Replace the distributor. This is the cause of many problems with the engine running on those cars. It contains the cam sensor, the coil and has been a thorn in many a side.
same problem. ever get it fixed?
