SOURCE: knocking in steering column in 2003 gmc sierra

Yes it will. GM has new replacement upper intermediate shaft for around 55-70 dollars depending on where you buy it. Took about an hour to change. Instructions with pictures on internet. Lock steering wheel so it does not move or you will break air bag sensor wire. They sell a pin to insert into steering wheel to lock it into place. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 1989 GMC Sierra 3500 loose tilt steering column

Without taking the tilt mechanism off you can only reach 2 of the 3 bolts. If you use 1/4 in. socket on 1/4 in drive with 6 in extension you can just get at the left bolt. If you remove the tilt spring you can get to the bottom bolt. To remoce tilt spring retainer use standard Phillips.

How do I change the switches in the steering wheel on a 2006 GMC 2500HD sierra?

this is something that would be best done by the dealer due to the airbag being in the steering wheel , that being said if you wish to attack this on your own still you have to unplug any power [battery, back up battery, stereo amps stiffening capacitors etc] then there are some small screws on the back of the steering wheel that need to come out before the horn/airbag assembly will come out to allow you to disconnect and replace the steering wheel switches depending on the accessories on your truck you may also need to remove the steering column covers before you can acess the scews in the back of the steeringwheel. be VERY cautious of the airbag connectors and wires but you would still be safer and better off letting a dealer change those out for you.
