The battery warning light on my 2004 Mazda Tribute comes on occasionaly. I had the Alternator replaced last year and just had the battery replaced. Does this warning light have to be reset at the dealer ?? or what

My problem is when I'm shifting gears, there's this noise, I simply can't explain the noise, but once I start to hear that noise, the SUV seems like it gets hot and just cuts off, the last two lights that are on is the oil light and the battery light. I've bought a new battery and a alternator, what seems to be the problem?
