Cant find gearbox oil plug escort van 1996

I am not familiar with the model so I can't accurately answer your question.
There has been a number of European transmissions that weren't fitted with an oil filler/level plug, some were fitted with a level plug in the integral differential/final drive housing but the transmission shouldn't be filled through these. There have also been transmissions with no drain plug.

Many of these had to be drained and then refilled from the top of the casing by removing the breather or speedo drive and if no level plug was provided filling was by a measured quantity.

It is advisable to obtain good model specific information before you proceed.

Check the gearbox oil level, it may be too high, the oil is traveling up the speedo cable and entering behind the dash

the oil filler and level indicator are usually at the same point which is usually on the side of the gearbox. removethe plug, fill the gear box with the correct oil until the oil starts to pour back out of the plug hole. then replace the plug. (basically)

you should the filler / oil level plug on the side of the gear box about halfway up, it can be on either side,you will have to do this from under the vehicle this plug is both filler & oil level you will most likely need a special equipment to get the oil in, it is like a large syringe with a tube on the end of it (about12" long) you **** the oil with it & fill the gearbox that way until the oil runs out of the plug hole........hope this helps.......cheers.

you need to do this under the vehicle,you should find a filler/level plug about half way up the gearbox housing,this is also the oil level plug, you will need a sump pump,this is like a very large syringe with a short hose on it, you put the hose into the oil container & pull out the handle to fill it up,put the hose into the filler plug hole then push the handle of the pump in slowly when the oil runs out of the filler plug the gearbox is full......hope this helps.....cheers

if this car is AUTO the dipstick will be on the same side as the gearbox underneath the hood. clearly marked with a red (i think) coloured plastic handle you check the level with the engine running and in park. if MANUAL gearbox then look down the front of the gearbox and about half way up theres a hexagon drive level plug - 8mm allen key hex i think - remove this and fill till oil runs out with engine off.

should be a plug about halfway up the gearbox .I would aslo check the clutch adjustment.

is it manual tranny? if so u do so under the car by removing the fill up plug which is located on the side of the tranny on driver side of the car if i remember. The plug under the tranny is to drain it.

If u drain it, when u fill it back up, u do so until oil slightly spills out by way of that side plug.
