Hi there. Firstly you need a strobe light, I hope you have one of these. Firstly when the engine is stopped, you need to locate the timing marks on the crank pulley - they are a series of indentations on the crank pulley and you will see the pointer on the crank pulley cover. The largest indentation on the pulley is TDC (Top Dead Centre) and the three smaller indentations are your timing marks. When the engine is at normal operating temperture and idling, using the strobe light, the centre small timing mark should be aligned with the pointer on the crank pulley cover. If it's not aligned, loosen the distrubutor body and turn in the appropriate direction to either advance or ****** the ignition timing. Hope this helps, Scottech.
I jus re did my head gasket on my 2.3 honda prelude...an i think the timing is way off and it will not start...if anyone can help [email protected]
There are two types of timing. Ignition timing and valve timing. Which one?
#4/ hdcrepairs is correct.
Also a Jumper wire must be installed across a blue "base timing" connector, somewhere under the rightside of dash. The connector terminates two wires, either blue/white & brown/white (2.3 engine) or orange/red & green/white (2.2 engine).
See drawing at qcwo.com/technicaldomain/honda-stock-ignition-timing
All spark timing is done via the ECU computer and its team of sensors, I think! Valve timing is via cambelt.

There's no such thing as a timing belt diagram.
Do you mean to say the "Procedure" for changing a timing belt in a 92 Prelude?
By asking such a question I can only interpret it as a clear indication that you've never changed a timing belt before.
If this is true, then you don't want to start out or practice on your own car.
Get the car to a pro and have the job done right.
If not true (and you've changed timing belt's in the past)
Then give me the engine size and I'll post the:
"PROCEDURE" for changing the belt in a few hours.

theres a lil slot on the lower left face plate of the dash.. Insert Ignition key or suitable tool (very small screwdriver) and hold for a few seconds.. this will reset the mileage counter and turn off the oil lamp.. Thankx
