Clutch is starting to slip on my 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Is there any places that I can adjust the clutch or cable or ??? I checked for proper fluid level and clean fluid in clutch reservoir. Seems to shift a little better when I pump the petal before driving. But is still slipping in lower gears unless I downshift (but doesn't solve the problem. Still slips slightly.) I am not sure where to start with this car. Thank you.

Hi
Sounds like you need a new clutch. There is no adjustment on these clutches.

2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser turbocharged. Why does it not have a low pressure charging port?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

It does have a low pressure port,. It has to for the pressure gauges set.

The low side valve is on the suction line, near the washer fluid reservoir filler.

Adjust clutch in pt cruiser

It happened to me, I thought clutch.....but.....in my case it was the gear shift selector bushes. too much play, meaning, under bonnet/hood look down past the battery to see where gear select cable meets the gearbox bell housing, the rubber inside the joint wears out, it happens at both ends of the gear select cable, not a big expensive job. But it can make gearshift misses or failure to engage or release. I repeat...NOT EXPENSIVE ! also, check fluid levels and check for leaks. if not these.... then you are in clutch main assembly territory...good luck. Red

We have a Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.0 ltr 90K on the clock, always serviced. Now will not go into reverse gear. All other gears and clutch operation is fine....any suggestions

the shift cables can be adjusted but you will have to remove the cover around the console. Also look at the top of the transmission to see if any of the cables came off. Oreilly sells a chilton manual for pt cruisers on page 7a-2 it shows the cables and how to adjust them.

Transmition not shifting automaticaly on 2001 pt -cruiser

Check the fluid level and add the proper amount if needed. If the level is fine, take it to a shop. It sounds like the transmission is slipping, and the heat generated will quickly kill it.
