My dashboard light does not come up.

The dashboard light of my 2003 nissan xterra does not come up when the light switch is turned on. I dont think its been caused by a fuse cause all fuses are intact. please suggest all other possible causes.
Thanks.
Can't see instrument panel at night - light completely out. Over time, I had to turn the dimmer switch up to full brightness to see anything. Now it's totally dark. I hope it's a simple fix and doesn't require replacing the instrument panel?

SOURCE: my dashboard light does not come up.

Hi,
I'm assuming you mean the backlighting that illuminates the dials and clocks?
If so, do all the other lights, such as on the heater panel, and window switches work?
If so it's just a problem with the instrument panel.
Have you tried operating the dashlight dimmer switch? Sometimes if it's left in the same position for a long time the connection gets a bit dirty (like a crackly volume control on a stereo)
So it might be an idea to work it back and forth to see what happens.
Did this happen suddenly? That may indicate a bad connection to the dash unit.
Give the dash a slap above the clock units (you never know, it's worked for me)
It doesn't sound like a serious problem
The bulbs in the dash do gradually "blacken up" and do have to be changed periodically.
But you don't notice until the last one has gone
Please check for ANY other electrical items not working first.
Electricity can do some strange things in cars.
Hope I've been of some help.
Kev.

SOURCE: Instrument Panel goes on and off, as do headlights

You have to remove the panel to check onthe connections behind it, also check the headlights switch, they tend to burn out.

The battery keeps dying on my 2001 nissan xterra. when the car is turned off the hot cable is still drawing fire from the battery causing it to die. I took out the security fuse and it fixed the problem,...

I guess its a common problem for xterras just to die when driving huuh lol.... just like all of you. i was driving and mine died at a stop light to lol.... people keep telling me that it might be the timing belt or distributor ( if you remove the distributor cap and someone turns the key a little, if the rotor spins that means the distributor took a dump.. and if the rotor dont spin the timing belt took a dump... i will be checking this out to see if its true this weekend..

One green light came up one day on my dashboard and does not knwo what it means.

This is indicating a problem in the 4WD system. It may just be a bad switch or wiring, but it's impossible to tell until a diagnosis is performed.
