Adjust kickdown cable

I have a 1997 plymouth breeze and trying to figure out how to adjust the kickdown cable. It is obviously an automatic. Also I seem to have no power left when it does kickdown to a lower gear and I am hoping this is the problem....what do you suggest.

If it is an overdrive, there isn't a kickdown cable. I would suspect something wrong with the engines output.

My key is stuck in the ignition of my 1997 plymouth breeze. How do I get it to release? What could be the causes of the key becomming locked in the ignition?

Steve, it seems that if you weren't having bad luck, you would be having no luck at all with that car! Try making sure that the shifter is all the way in PARK. You may have to put the shifter back in gear and return it to PARK a couple times. The MOST LIKELY cause is the shift interlock cable sticking.

Hope things get better for you!

Auto Recall Date:AUG 06, 1998 Vehicle Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:PARK/NEUTRAL START SWITCH Estimated Vehicles Affected:685000 1998 Plymouth Breeze Defect Summary:VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE CABLE CONNECTING THE CONSOLE SHIFTER MECHANISM TO THE IGNITION KEY CAN CAUSE A TRAPPED KEY CONDITION WHICH CAN RESULT IN A LOW FORCE REQUIRED TO DEPRESS THE SHIFT BUTTON. A COMBINATION OF APPLYING A MIS-ADJUSTED RELEASE BUTTON WITH A LOW FORCE ATTEMPT TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK WITH THE KEY IN THE LOCKED POSITION, CAN BREAK THE Sounds Sounds like a recall to me: BTW Have you checked for any recalls? You have alot on this vehicle.CONNECTING PIN IN THE SHIFTER. Defect Consequence:IF THIS HAPPENS, THE "IGNITION-PARK" INTERLOCK SYSTEM WILL BE NONFUNCTIONAL. Remedy:DEALERS WILL INSPECT FOR PROPER OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM. ANY VEHICLES THAT ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL AFTER THE INSPECTION WILL HAVE THE SHIFT MECHANISM AND CABLE REPLACED WITH A "SELF-ADJUSTING" DESIGN. Notes:CHRYSLER CORPORATION
