Car sometimes will not start, unless I put some ether into the engine. But once started it purrs like a kitten? I do not know where my fuel filter is to change it. Any ideas?

The fuel filter is under the car between the gas tank and the engine.
I would check the fuel pump relay the next time it fails to start.

Replaced the fuel pump relay and it still doing the same thing. Going to try and replace the fuel filter as soon as I can find it.

SOURCE: olds alero 2.4 idle fuel pressure

most likely idle air control sensor or low engine coolant I know sounds funny but IAC uses coolant to regulate idle. Idle air control valve or throttle body positioning sensor.

Misfire warm

Possible an injector leaking down, saturating cylinder and spark plug., causing a misfire on startup and clearing up after it runs for a while.

Sometimes my 2000 mystique wont start unless i repedally pump on the gas pedal or spray the air intake with starting fluid. what causes this?

YOU PROBABLY HAVE BAD SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES.YOU NEED TO CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS AND CHANGE FUEL FILTER.THIS LITTLE TUNE UP SHOULD HELP.ANY TIME YOU SPRAY ETHER DOWN AIR INTAKE TO GET ENGINE STARTED YOUR ENGINE NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL OR SPARK TO COLD START.YOU NEED RICH FUEL MIXTURE ON COLD ENGINE START UP.AS ENGINE WARMS UP FUEL MIXTURE HAS TO BE LEAN.

Can I use 87 gas rather than premium I see the manual reads Premium

If it says that you can use it, go ahead. But if is recommends not to except in an emergency.
DON'T. Octane Ratings in gasoline refer to the temperature that the fuel will Ignite. The Lower the
Temperature that it Ignites, The lower the Octane Rating. The engine in your car is Very High Performance. It uses a High Compression Ratio so the Temperatures and Pressures inside the cylinders are higher before the spark plug ignites the fuel mixture. If you Octane is too low, The fuel will ignite before it is supposed to and you can damage or possibly destroy the engine. If you use the premium, i.e. High Octane Fuel, The timing of the ignition will be correct and the engine will purr like a kitten. Not really a kitten, maybe a tiger. You know what I mean. Most people who own that car, don't really know it's a screamer. I'm not kidding.

I know it costs more, but in the long run the engine will last longer.
Hope this is of some help,
Best Regards,
Mark

Wont start unless you pour gas into intake

Time for a fuel pump, but make sure chg. fuel filter and do a fuel pressure test. Thats the only sure way of knowing if its the pump is by the test.

Car shakes when @ a complete stop

Sounds like you have a fuel problem, either supply or use.
check the fuel injectors first, maybe get them cleaned. this could be done with an additive or a visit to whomever changes your oil.
if not that, then the filters. but both of these are pretty simple to do.

if it persists, go to your mechanic and do a compression test, to see if you have a seal problem around your heads or your gaskets.
