I have a 2005 Suburban LT. I pushed the 4 low button to back my trailer up my driveway and forgot to push the 2WD button before shutting it off for the night. The next morning I next out to get into the Burb and noticed it was in 4WD Low. I put it in Neutral and pushed the 2WD button it started to blink then went off and never went into 2WD. I shut it off and back on and tried it again, still nothing. I pulled the 4WD fuse, started it and shut it back off and put the fuse back in. I tried it again still stuck in 4WD low. As it got warm through out the day I tried it again, and it finally went back into 2 WD. Now I noticed that when I put it into 4WD sometime it does not go back into 2WD. After shutting the Burb off and then on again it I can push the 2WD button and it will work. I am afraid that it will not come out of 4WD when I have to use it. I spoke to a Technician and he said that the Encoder Motor draws moisture and I need to take it off and use a hairdryer on it to heat it up to get the moisture out of it. Now my question is: What is the service procedure to check something like this out?
I have had similar problems with my burb also. Mine would shift into 4wd at any time, then not go back to 2wd. I have taken it to the dealer multiple times. the first time I was told in not so many words that I was crazy and it worked fine for them. the second time they experienced it and said it was a bad sensor and they replaced it and it was good for about a year. Now the warenty has expired and it is acting up again, can't wait to here what they say this time. Curse GM, they should have been allowed to fail, all they do is produce crappy products. The only way I would buy another GM product is if they start producing Hondas.
