Jaguar xj6 1996 runs then engine cuts out momentarily, runs again. checked every thing and found engine light comes on during engine cut...found coils turn off and fuel pump relay turns off too....this happens at any time and when throttled..no engine codes stored. have replaced ecu ..no difference. checked bulkhead terminals, cleaned.. checked relays and 13 white pin connector behind right headlight what could cause this eratic shut down?

Mate I use to drive a freightliner and it cut out on me one day, I eventually got it started but cut out again after about 5 minutes, I rang a mechanic to come out and he found a heat sensor wire came off the radiator and that caused the motor to cut out... Hope I haven't wasted your time.......

You could have a fuel pump wire that is shorting out or a fuel pump that is drawing too much current, not a easy fix. You need to follow the wiring for the fuel pump if that is good drop the gas tank and replace the pump.

find what fuse 18 runs and check it for a dead short. If it is a fuel pump fuse check the fuel pump for seized or dead short.

1st run scans for fault codes.

It sounds like you have a loose connection to you coil packs. The speed sensors actually could be causing the problem also. If they are shorting out and shorting out the ECU then the car would die. And if they are just momentarily shorting, then it would cause this exact problem. When the car dies going down the freeway does the speedometer jump or the transmission act up?

2001 kia sportage, 164,000, driving on highway and engine starts to sputter momentarily, then runs good , then sputters, runs best if you barely push gaspdal, to much pedal and sputters again

but their is an oil cut off switch or so iam informed ,if you lost oil with the engine running then the oil light switch cuts the engine off ,dealer only to reset

go to checker and have them run the code for check engine light. it will probably come up as a lean code bank 1 or/and bank 2. on my x-type it was an o-ring in the intake that was cracked mechanic found it with by spraying carb and choke cleaner around the intake components.the shaking.... if it occurs at higher rpms is your car being in limp home mode i think about 3000 rpms will go away when intake problems are solved. car cutting off ? take it jag maybe a weak fuel pump,clogged jet pump or clogged fuel filter just did all of the above to my 02 x-type 3.0 sport w/ 75,000 miles.
