Replace the neutral safety switch on my 1999 Chevy Silverado

I need to replace the neutral safety switch on my 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500. I is an automatic. I need to know the location of it and how to get to it most of all because I have the part and it seems like it could be real easy to replace. Like is it under the dash, do I need to get under the car, or is it under the hood, etc. Any info you have would be so great, THANK YOU!

SOURCE: How to replace a neutral safety switch

The switch should be on the drivers side of the tranny where the shift linkage attaches to it. You will need a 13mm socket and a 15 mm socket . You will also need a heat gun , the electrical plug is glued into the connectors and must be warmed up to be removed . these rarly go bad but they do get out of adjustment / or when removing pan techs are ad to bend the shift cable bracket and get them out of adjustment . Loosen the two 13mm bolts and move it slightly in both directions and see if this fixs you problem before you change it out.

Where is safety switch located on 2001 1500 Chevy

If the truck has an automatic transmission the switch is on the left side of the transmission. It is part of the shift linkage as it goes into the transmission. https://www.justanswer.com/chevy/36wik-change-neutral-safety-switch-2001-silverado.html

I habve a 2006 chevy silverado z71 and I need to replace the reverse light switch. Where is it located? Thank you.

I am guessing an automatic transmission? If so, the reverse lights are incorporated into the neutral safety switch on the side of the transmission with the shift linkage

How can i manually reset the computer on my 99 chevy silverado 1500 4x4? my oil pump is weak and it has a dry start and when i started it this mornin i think it kicked the knock sensor and shut my motor...

The knock sensor will not cause a no-start. The knock sensor only retards the timing when the engine is running. If the starter is not working we need to check the battery voltage, battery cables, starter, engine ground, neutral safety switch, ignition switch, security system. These are the only things that can cause a no crank.
If you really have the urge to clear your computer disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 minutes.

I replaced my transmission in my 99 chevy silverado 1500 4X4. When I turn the key now it does nothing, I replaced the Park Neutral Safety Switch and still won't do anything. Everything is hooked up. Any...

pretty hard one.
First check th e bellhousing to make sure no wires got caught.
Check starter for broken wires.
Put emergency on and adjust linkage for the stops to be correctly aligned.go underneath and loosen the 1/2 bolt on the linkage make sure trans is in park and move until it can't go up any more.
.
That's
your starting point. now put gear shifter in neutral. feel the play in thetop
then in the bottom. you must equalize these distances so same loosness up / down..
If that doesn't work write back.
