Driver side door lock barrel turns, but does not unlock the door + my key FOB is dead

Well your FOB REMOTE Battery could be dead, try replacing it
on you lock cylinder, sounds like the clip that holds it fell off, broke or rusted off ? You have to take your inside door panel off to check this, there are screws and clips that hold your door panel on, some screws are around your arm rest, inside door handle, and there might also be some around the panel itself, the clips are behind the panel, by using a flathead screwdriver you can pry these, by sliding the screwdriver around the panel, but be careful not to crack your panel.
once off, check your door lock cylinder, there should be a U shape clip holding it, if not check the bottom of your door.
if your lock is molded in the plastic door handle, then you have to take this off

I broke my key in the door and i cant get it out

the lock cylinder will have to be removed and disassembled; I recommend a locksmith because it is very touchy working on lock cylinders. if the lock has been giving you problems before and you have a spare key, you can recode a new cylinder to the original.

I broke my key off in the ignition, what i need to do to get it out

A lot depends on if the ignition switch will rotate or not. If it can rotate, the ignition lock cylinder can be removed fairly easilly and either the lock cylinder can be replaced, or you can take the existing lock cylinder to a locksmith for repair. If you replace the lock cylinder, then you will also probably get new keys for the new cylinder. These will not work your door locks however, so you will have to use two keys.

If the lock cylinder will not rotate, some extensive steering column disassembly will be required to get the lock cylinder out and several other parts may need to be replaced in the process.

Key ignition switch needs replaced lock cylinder how do i change key broke off inside damaged needs replaced wires broke off behind key switch

disconnect the battery and pull the air bag fuse out to diable the air bag. Remove the steering coulmb trim covers and expose the lock cylinder. If the lock cylinder can be turned and is functional then push in the bottom tab and turn the lock cylinder then pull the whole cylinder out. If the keys broke inside and the lock cylinder is not functional the bottom tab will need to be drilled out.

The driver side door lock broke on my 98 jetta door want open

according to my partsman (who has had great advice for many years), you do not have to remove the door panel to replace the door handle which contains the cylinder lock. the handle is released with a screw which you can see when you open the door. you will need a starhead screwdriver or socket. A new handle costs around $40 at a parts store in my area. call around for a locksmith who will re-key your key to the new lock or use the key which comes with the new lock, your choice. i am in dealing with this also
