There is a noticeably loud whinning when accelerating starting from about 30mph through 70-80mph. The coise stops when you let off the accelerator. It is hard to tell but sounds like it is comming from the rear axle.

Sounds like a vacuume leak, use some carb cleaner in a spray can and gently spray the engine. When you find the leak the engine will stumble, check in that area for the leak.
SOURCE: moaning noise coming from rear axle at 65mph+ very
Sounds to me like the differential. Check and add fluid, the driveline t's off at the rear axle, and there is a nut that your socket wrench should fit into (without a socket). Stick your finger in there and the fluid level should be to hole level.
