Can be a dirty idle air control stepper motor plunjer and air canal, but most probably the TPS is going bad (throttle position sensor)

SOURCE: 2000 grand cherokee overheating heater blowing out cold air

Generally this condition is the result of coolant loss, or failed thermostat. If coolant goes below cylinder head level, or thermostat remains closed, heat will stop working. Do not drive with this condition as excessive heat buildup in cylinder head can and will do serious damage to heads and or head gasket.
Find out where leak is and correct it. Change thermostat as it may also be damaged. Check for excessive steam from tailpipe or miss in engine, as these symptoms indicate a cylinder head problem.

SOURCE: 02 Grand Cherokee High RPM start. Cuts out when driving

Ckean throttle plate inside throttle body...They tend to get dirtier than their counterparts in carbureted engines due to lack of fuel spray that kept them clean. If no luck with that, clean idle air control valve on TB. When doing this, don't turn the plunger, just clean with carb spray and replace. do not loose "o" ring seal.
Good luck

SOURCE: 2000 pontiac grand am 3.4

Hi Tom,Did you ever figure out what the problem was? My Alero with the same 3.4 motor is doing the exact same thing between 3000-4000 rpm while driving sometimes. Mine won't rev in park over 4000 either, but I think they are all like this.
Thanks,
Mitchell

Don't think changing either the belt or the alternation would cause those changes. You must have moved or damaged something else in the process. Just what, I have no clue.

04 kia optima 2.7 V6 changed out altenator and Serpentine belt When I start the car it reeves engine 2000 rpm then climbes to 4000 rpm than back down to 2000rpm repeats over and over Serpentine belt is...

Sound like you either had to disconnect a wire to get out of the way when you removed the altinator and didn't reconnect or you knocked one off go back and check your work.

My problem is reeving system in jeep grand. Cherokee its not reeving

Jeep grand cheerkee.
what year.?
which of 3 engines> or more>?

my guess is revving , means, (its good word)
means, car dont move?
the transmission slips? (engine RPM rises fast , but car does not accelerate in the same proportions)
or the RPM fail to rise, that means the engine Lacks power
those 2 are polar opposites.
engine problem
transmission slip. (flare)
2 paths to walk. do not guess. or it gets expensive fast.

I have a 99 jeep grand cherokee ltd, 4.0 L, 6cyl, auto, 4wd, 87000 miles. My problem is that on the first start of the day and when the engine is cold, the transmission wont shift from 2nd to 3rd until...

I'd begin by having the trans fluid changed and making sure there isn't an excessive amount of debris in the pan (there is always some but should not be obviously a lot) You may have a slight varnish buildup inside that becomes less sticky as the internal temp rises.
