SOURCE: i just replaced cylinder head and now my car wont start up

Is timing correct?

First make sure you are getting spark.

Some questions you need to know are what year head is the LS. Did you use the LS Intake manifold and throttle body. Problem is if you didnt use a OBD1 LS and it is OBD2 or OBD0 The Throttle position sensor wont allow the engine to start. Same with the Distributor, because your crank angle position sensor is in your distributor and a OBD1 ECU can communicate withe OBD0 or OBD2

If it is all OBD1 Then I would do a compression and Cyl. Leak down test.

SOURCE: alternator

Disconnect battery, disconnect altenator wire harness. Remove bolts and pull out altenator. When reinstalling new altenator, there should be an adjustable pulley called tensioner pulley that will either have to be pulled up or pushed down in order to put belt back on.

RESTART VEHICLE AFTER BATTERY CHANGED

Computer reset for starters
Second alternator is failing get tested
Third fuel filter and pump
These are the norms for routine maintenance with battery change
Since battery died we know it wasnt getting voltage on the road
Or it was getting it intermitently
The alternator can pass tests intermitently
When checked
The best old fasioned way of testing alternator run vehicle disconnect from battery positve side
Let run if power drop or car stops alternator needs replaced
Battery is only good for starting a vehicle
All other power like accessories comes from a transformer in vehicle that stores voltage
Youll see in car a second bar with ground and power going to it this is your transformer do not jump accross transformer
Other then mentioned above routine maintenance is needed

Batt gos dead some times when driving and gets a open cirket in altanater

You have a malfunction in the charging system. You could have a dead cell if battery won't hold a charge. Need to have it tested. And if all electrical connections are tight, you could have a bad alternator-so get that tested as well. Does your battery light come on when engine is running?
The battery is not even used when the engine is running-all electrical power comes from the alternator. Only purpose of the battery is to start the engine, or run accessories when the engine is not running. Soon as engine is running, the alternator supplies all current.

Car died on the freeway and cant get it to start again. Its been a couple of days when I stick the key in it makes a clicking sound and now my lights wont even turn on

You first have to make sure the alternator has not failed. Try to fully charge the battery and see if the truck will start. If it starts, remove the battery cables making sure they don't touch the vehicle. If the truck shuts off, the alternator has failed. If it remains running, turn on the head lights along with other accessories. If it shuts off, the alternator still may be weak and needs replacing. Lastly, have the battery load tested to ensure that it still holds a proper charge.

Car wouldn't start...

The alternator is bad. Your accessories like that are driven mostly on alternator power, and as soon as it goes out, everything goes haywire. You should pull the alternator off, and have it tested at your autozone, and when they tell you it's bad, then you can go ahead and get the new or remanufactured one to replace it with. The alternators on these vehicles usually go out around 60-70000 miles almost like clockwork, so if it's original, I would definitely expect it.

Wont start

just one click or a rapid clicking???? a bad connection could cause this, or if its one big click and nothing happens, the starter solenoid may be bad. have someone tap on the stater while you hold the key in the start position. if it then starts, replace the starter. Buy quality parts, NOT from AZ if thats where you get parts.
