I have checked the ignition system have spark everywhere. The fuel pump is getting fuel to the cylinders. I just replaced the crankshaft position sensor. Still the car will not turn over. Although when is press the gas pedal to the floor it will shudder a little then die out? What should I check next. The computer isn't throughing any codes the engine has fuel, fire, and air and just won't start. Help please the frustration is mounting.
Try cranking engine while holding gas pedal to the floor, this turns off the fuel injectors to clear excess fuel from cyls. eng my just be flooded. may need to crank for a long time. if engine starts do not let off gas until you are sure eng will run on its own.

If your 1999 Saturn SL turns over but won't start, there could be a few different reasons why. Here are some possible causes:
Faulty fuel pump: The fuel pump is responsible for delivering fuel from the tank to the engine. If it's not working properly, the engine won't receive enough fuel to start. You can check if the fuel pump is working by turning the key to the "on" position and listening for a humming sound coming from the fuel tank. If you don't hear anything, the fuel pump may be faulty.
Dead battery: If the battery is dead, the engine won't have enough power to start. You can try jump-starting the car to see if that helps.
Ignition system problems: If the ignition system isn't working properly, the engine won't start. This could be caused by a faulty ignition coil, distributor, or spark plugs.
Clogged fuel filter: If the fuel filter is clogged, fuel won't be able to flow properly to the engine. This can cause the engine to stall or not start at all.
Bad crankshaft position sensor: The crankshaft position sensor tells the engine control module (ECM) when to fire the spark plugs. If it's not working properly, the engine won't start.
These are just a few possible causes of a Saturn SL that turns over but won't start. It's best to have a qualified mechanic diagnose the problem to ensure that it's fixed correctly.
If this is a sudden occurrence and nothing suspicious happened prior, you most likely lost either gas or spark to the engine. You need to check for both.
Do you hear the fuel pump in the gas tank buzz on for a couple of seconds when you turn the ignition key to ON? Unless the fuel pump turns on and puts gas under high pressure at the fuel injectors, the engine cylinders won't get gas to start. Correct fuel pressure is crucial to know if you have a fuel pump (or fuel filter) problem. If the pressure is correct, it is probably not a fuel problem but a spark problem, although there are less common instances where a fuel injector circuit may malfunction.
The ignition system not producing spark at the spark plugs is the other common problem of no starts. Buy a cheap spark tester at a parts store, plug it into one of your spark plug wires, then crank the engine over and watch for a strong blue spark. You might need a helper to do this. If you see a consistent spark, the ignition system is probably good, although you should probably check more than just one plug wire-sometimes one bad ignition coil in a coil pack will cause no starting. Good luck.
If the engine fires up for a second or two with starting fluid then the fuel pump is weak.I would check the fuel pressure and if its not within the specs then replace the pump and filter.
fuel problem or spark problem neither is associated with a change in sparkplug unless you had a sever misfire that you let go for a long time to cause thhe igition module to fail.and this include the crank sensor that is underneath the ignition module. cycle the key you should hear a humm at the fuel tank and that is the fuel pump working if you hear the fuel pump then more than likely you will need to correct for spark ignition module and crank sensor
Possible you must have the car checked for the basic fuel/ignition system. You will need to check on the fuel, the fuel filter, the fuel pump. Check the calibration of the pump . Also check the spark intensity , check the plugs the HT coils and the trigger voltages. The ignition timing also must be checked to confirm that the firing is correct. Finally the engine must crank well so that there is enough voltage to the ignition system. Hope there are no errors codes that come up when the ignition is turned.
Are you sure youre not getting a spark? pull a plug wire off the plug of a cylinder and put it on another spare spark plug and crank the motor and look for a spark. If you have spark then its a fuel issue. check your fuel pump. Also be aware of alarm systems and immobolizers if you have them. what i mean is do you have to program your keys? if your keys are not programed then there won't be a spark, even if it fits and can turn it to start. Or if an after market alarm system is stuck on lock.
You said, 'fuel injectors are not injecting fuel into fuel rail' but it's my understanding that the fuel rail gasoline is supplied by the pump, and the fuel injectors just pulse to allow fuel to get to the cylinders. I would check out the fuel delivery problem further. Check for pressure in the fuel rail that is within specs.
If not, then the pump or fuel pressure regulator may be the problem. Check the fuse for the fuel pump. If good, then the pump may be bad in the tank.
you have spark and fuel pump primes when u turn the key / the timing chain has proper deflect but did it slip .sounds like the timing is off it may have spark but if timing has gone out it wont start either make sure it's in time next..
Have you checked if your getting spark. You can do this by removing a plug and having someone hit the key for you. watch the spark plug don't touch it or you will get zapped. If you see a strong spark you should be good. Do this for all plugs. Alternatively you can try the crank position sensor this should be mounted between the intake manifold and the starter. Follow the wires to the location and unscrew the sensor.
If that is not the problem and your getting spark and gas to the cylinders. Let me know
