Generally, Bank 1 is front and Bank 2 is rear.

Having a steady growl once in motion, sounds louder on the passenger side. Manual transmission - no problems (yet) with day to day running down the road. Just noise - getting louder.

hello when you are driving down the road and its making the noise slightly turn left and right if the noise changes then replace the wheel bearing if not check the axle

My 1999 Forester Subaru wheel bearings are bad both rear wheels not to mention the front I just had repaired at Firestone for 600.00 Is it worth the extra money to take the car to Subaru, a 300....

Are you sure that they bearings are really bad, bad tires can also give you a growl noise from the bearings if they are different or worn badly. It should not mater where you take it to have them done, just that they use good quality parts and replace them properly. Hope this helps and have a good day.

I want to disconnect my front dif so my forester is 2WD

should be an A W D fuse under the bonnet or Dash,check google or forum for easy answer can be done just cant remember where its located,but pretty sure under hood(bonnet) look hard

Hello, from the sounds of it you have a wheel bearing out. One way to usually verify that it is a wheel bearing is to drive down that road and swerve side to side to transfer the wieght of the vehicle back and forth. If it is a wheel bearing you will notice a change in the sound. If you hear a change in the sound figure out which side it is coming from. If when you swerve right and it's louder or makes more noice then it will be the left bearing and vice versa.
