The light comes on for faults in the engine fuel control system and for the emission control system on the car, about 150 different trouble codes that can turn the light on. If u would like a free test for these trouble codes go to any Kragen or Autozone parts tore and they will do the OBD2 trouble code test.

It means the engine computer has detected a fault.  However, the computer has a "limp home mode" that it defaults to when something is amiss.  You may be traveling in the default mode now.  Have it checked.

What is causing my car to cut off then start again after 10 mins..Buick century 2000 3.1

In this year the most common reason is a defective crankshaft position sensor, but you really need the OBD2 engine control fault codes read to confirm this fault is present. This OBD2 fault code test can be run for free by any Autozone or other chain auto parts store.

2001 buick century custom a/c blows out defrost and floor nothing out vents what should i loook for

Sounds like one of your actuators are bad under your dash. Does yours have independent climate controls for passenger and driver? If not check under hood at passenger side and look for a bad vacuum hose near fire wall

Check engine light on 2001 buick century

You have a check light on

Thoses lights & their systems
have been with us for over 30 years

That said--you don't know to check for codes
& google them, to learn what system has a fault
or failure?

Still need a repair shop, any time any dash light
comes on, after the motor is running

I have a 1991 Buick Century 3.3! Its been running hot. I know its not a blowed head gasket. I have changed the thermostat and put a new water pump in it... Could you give me some answers of what it might...

Sounds like you've covered all bases.
I'd look for a pinhole leak somewhere...especially all seams of the radiator
and / or check your timing as well.

What is a reasonable price to replace the a/c compressor and clean out the system on a 2001 Buick Century

Well, I would say a few hundred dollars for the compressor would be reasonable on a 2001 Buick Century.

What problem are you experiencing, a slow leak of r134a?

2003 Buick Century Custom and the Service Engine Soon Light

You will need to have a reputable mechanic do a diagnostic check on the car to determine the problem. This should pull up a code number in your car's computer and help point the mechanic and you in the direction of the malfunctioning part/s.

Just today, I had a diagnostic check done on mine for nearly $45.00. The mechanic was able to figure out the reason why my service engine light was staying on. I knew my car's radiator fans failed to run when car's engine was hot except when the A/C was running. I had changed out the sensors and was never able to get the light to go out or get the fans working. They were able to determine that the 25 amp fuse for the fans located under the hood was blown. After replacing it, the fans worked as they should, my car runs cooler and the engine service engine light is now out. Of course there are many possible reasons why the service engine light may come on including problems with the car's emissions. A reputable mechanic can solve your problem.
