VW PASSAT BRAKE COST!

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE COST FOR REPLACING ALL ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS ON A 2002 PASSAT?
I had to pay about 700 dollars! this can't be right ? The machanic said it has 2 per side on the front and this make it more expensive. Seems expensive to me, plus I thought average cost for rotors and pads were not more than 70 a piece, my back rotors alone cost me 169. Is this correct? What an I do if it is overpriced? I feel like I have gotten ripped off, the prices I get online are much cheaper, and i got charged 99 per premium brake service, one for front one for back.

thanks, at least I feel more at ease that I did not overpay by much.

ROTORS WILL RUN ABOUT $60-80 PER ROTOR. PREMIUM PADS RUN ABOUT $40-70 PER PAD. PLUS ABOUT 3-4 HOURS OR SHOP TIME AT AN AVERAGE OF $60-70 PER HOUR

I DO SUGGEST CALLING 3-4 OTHER SHOPS NEAR YOUR AREA AND GET AN ESTIMATE FROM THEM AS WELL.

How much should it cost to replace calipers and pads on a 2005 6cyl 2wd 4 Runner?

If they order the parts from rockauto its about $630-700 in parts. $50-60 front and rear brake pads, $ 100 -115 2 better front rotors, $100 for better rear rotors, $90 for each rear caliper, 100-125 per front caliper, $10 for each rubber brake line. (The caliper prices include a core fee that you would get back $30-40 per caliper returning the old caliper, but you pay the shipping fees). The ballpark prices also include the additional shipping costs. Labor should be around 2-2.5hrs. So depending on the shop it would be $50-60/hr so total cost $100-150 for the labor. So total would be somewhere around $730-850. You can just have the one caliper replaced, you do not need to replace them all. I would get new rotors on whichever axle (front or rear) the stuck caliper is on and not get the rotors cut, because the faulty caliper could have warped the rotor. Another possibility is that it could just need a new rubber brake line. When my calipers locked on one of my classic trucks, I just replaced the old rubber line and it was good to go. -Fawkes

High Dollar/High Mileage Brake Pads,Verses OEM,Or Metallic Pads

What is the big talk about high mileage brake pads?Well, they do last a really long time, they actually do,but, yes ,I say but,did you know that the high mileage pad is a lot harder too,and this includes the ceramic pad also, witch is a pad designed to stop, all brake dust,so your rims will stay clean and shiny. This is all good, but two,no,three things are on the down side of the harder brake pad. One,as you drive, the brake pad does not give, any,it just continues to mill away at the brake rotor, there fore, most of the time, when it is time for a new set, witch will be a good long time, the rotors are too far gone to resurface, and must be discarded, and then you have to replace them with new ones, even at a bargain, they, the rotors will cost a lot more than a set of OEM,or semi metallic brake pads. Two,They will not stop as well,it can take as long as twice the time to come to a full stop, when applying the brakes.Three, the premium brake pad can cost as much as 90.00 dollars, compared to as low as 18.00 dollars for a OEM ,or semi metallic brake pad,you could almost buy 5 sets of brake semi metallic for one set of premium brake pads. You choose, how much money do you want to put into your brakes?Face it folks,a little dust can wash off, compared to having to pay out the nose just to not have the brake dust, and putting money into rotors every time you do a brake job. I am going to let you in on a secret here, the manufacture advertises life time warranty for these premium pads, but they do not warranty the rotors, and the labor, and it is hard now,to get them to warranty the brake pad.Weigh the difference,is it worth it.You make the call.

Average cost for replacing rear brakes on 2000 Bravada

labor rates and pricing vary greatly town to town state to state. You best option would be to call around your local area to see what the going rate is for a standard rear brake service and a couple of rotors.

Typically the rear caliper slides freeze and the calipers need to be replaced.

You can expect from $200 to $800 dollars depending on what you actually need.

How much do I expect to pay for new brakes

It will vary on the brakes, depending what needs to be replaced, rotors, calipers, pads. I would say around $200-$300 per axle. I've seen tranmission services going for $79-$99.

2002 VW passat wagon brakes

Check the level of the brake fluid, as the pads wear down the fluid level falls slightly and the sensor reacts and gives the warning, it may happen more as you are cornering and the brake fluid moves, try gently topping up the brake fluid it doesn't need much..

How much would it cost to get my brakes fixed on a 2006 vw passat? also, what about replacing the grill?

an 06 passat has special rear calipers that have to be taken in by a scan tool if you try to turn them in you will damage parking brake motor the brakes also need reset after installation by scan tool or there will be codes in parking brake circuit but the fronts are normal except for sensors on the inboard pads but i beleive at the dealer its around 800 for rotors and pads all the way round the grille im not sure of maybe 150-200 total

What size brakes does my passat have with 17 inch rims. also what type of upgrade rotors and pads would work

size of wheels is not an issue. Use standard B5 VW Passat pads and rotors if needed.

I've found that Original VW brakes last the longest.

get your brakes done at a local tire place and not the dealer.  It sounds like you need a new mechanic.  Got to cartalk.com as they have a list of good mechanics in your area.
