My wife complained of her Nissan Altima car tires needing to be checked after hearing a noise when she arrived at work. I drove the car which has new tires on it and when I parked it I heard a hissing sound. After I raised the hood I could hear the sound moreso. I turned the engine off and it stopped. Any idea what is the cause of this?

When you turn the ignition key to the start position you apply 12 volts to the solenoid. The solenoid is a relay switch that closes when you turn the key to the start position. When it closes It applies 12 volts to the starter motor. The starter motor draws a lot of electrical current, (so much so that they could not run that current thru the ignition switch, so they use the solenoid) What you hear clicking is the solenoid closing, or trying to close.I assume that "*****clicking" as you define it is a chatter rather then one click.
Possible causes: A low battery voltage. Has the battery been replaced in the last few
years few years. Try charging over night and see what happens
Bad connections on the battery terminals. Check for any white powder on and around the battery terminal. Use baking soda and water to clean the terminals (it'll fizz) then clean theem with a terminal brush. You can get one at any auto store
Bad connection on the starter solenoid
If it a manual shift, there is usually a kill switch somewhere on the shift mechanism
that prevents the starter from working if the car is in gear and the clutch is out
In automatic shifter the kill switch is in the shift selector mechanism so you can't start the car unless you are in park.
Hope this helps Lood luck Loringh
SOURCE: very loud "rubbing " sound when driving only
you did damage to the wheel bearing i bet it sounds like a airplane sound. also if you steering wheel is off 7"then have front end aligned because this will destroy the tires and they will make noise.
SOURCE: Clicking Noise Coming From Under The Hood
Have you checked your belts? A piece of belt may have come off and been slapping under your hood, and then fell off completely. While it was slapping, your computer would have detected the slow down of pulleys etc. and caused your engine light to come on. Then when the piece broke off, everything would be back to normal. Let me know!

1st check the the oil level and the vehicle's oil type.(owners manuel) 5w30-10w30
10w 30 is a thicker oil and could possibly be causing this.(Moves more freely through the engine heats the oil)

Yes, and it probably is your wheel bearing. Hearing a sound like a chain dragging is classic. You may also hear a clicking noise or chain dragging noise when turning to the left or right.
Look under the car and see if the rubber boots that surround the axle near the tires are cracked and leaking grease. If so, it is almost a certainty that the bearings are bad as you have lost grease and thus lubrication to the bearings.
Good luck,
