I just bought a 1992 Honda Accord. The speedometer is intermittantly working, though more often not working. The speedometer, tac, and gas gauges will not light up. But the dummy lights, shift lights, and door ajar lights work. Could these problems be related? I know the VSS could fix the speedometer, but the car recently had the radio replaced. Should I go looking for crossed wires before I pay $120 dollars for a VSS? I know that a short could cause the lights to not work, but could it cause the speedometer to quit too?

Do I need to pull the instrument panel from the dash to replace the bulbs?
