SPEEDO READS SLOW ; I have a 1992 camry with an auto trans; 2.2

I have a 1992 camry with an auto trans; 2.2 engine. The speedo reads slow when cold then, when warm, seems to not show the correct speed; still too slow.

Is it the cluster, a sensor, or? I don't believe it has a cable.

thank you

SOURCE: Speedo not working corectly

This is an electronic speedo, could be several things but probably 1st and easiest thing to try is repalceing the vehicle speed sensor(vss). Also need to know if check engine light is on, and if any other electrical items are malfunctioning.

SOURCE: instrument cluster does not work.

check the relays under the kick panel on drivers side...maybe switch them around and see if that works....sometimes corrolas will do the same thing.check the ones under the hood also.

SOURCE: speedo jumps around and the trans auto wont shift

missing/ erratic signal from vehicle speed sensor, check for loose wiring, or replace sensor as required.

SOURCE: 2.2ltr toyota camry no speedo, indicators, dash

This is a fuse problem and it is located within the car beneath the driver side of the dash-board.

I am not sure but you will detect easily by removing and checking the fuse cover which should have an illustration.

Good luck and rate this.

For any other Toyota Camry issues you can email me @ [email protected].

Cheers.

1997 chevy k1500 suburban speedometer inaccurate stock tires 5.7 auto 50mph actual speed is 70mph

You need the speedo calibrated, if that is not the cause then either the speedo is defective or their is some unlikely problem with the speed sensor.

1996 camry slow acceleration

On a Camry that year it is quite possible that

- if an auto, your no 1 & 2 shift solenoid has failed, rendering the trans unable to find low gear. Any auto mech can test for this easily (cheaply), however there should then be a trouble code causing the O/D indicator to blink on the dash (if that lamp is OK)

- if a manual, your clutch is worn and has begun to slip. Park on a level, idle the engine, step firmly on the footbrake, place the trans in 3rd gear and let the clutch out slowly. The engine should immediately stall. If it is slow to do so, suspect the clutch.

80 series speedo

what year car. state make ,year, and model and transmission options
and engine size .
old cars use a speedo cable.
we first test the cable. if cable spins we then check speedohead, using
a slow turning drill motor, in proper direction. at head.
is the odometer dead too, if yes, that is a bad cable.
both never fail at once. unless the cable is bad. (snapped.)_
get the FSM and read it.

alldata.com has the I/P cluster removal.
read it or the FSM.

Speed metter does not working also engiine light check on

This problem may be a fuse blown, or a faulty speed sensor, wiring for speedo, or other problems with speedo cluster. You said check engine light was on, this may be related to speedo. As computer reads vehicle speed it controls trans, engine, even radio volume as vehicle changes speed. Try looking for any blown fuses first.
