1995 VR6 Golf has starting problems. Seems like Immobilser.

My partners Golf has Intermittent starting problems which are happening more frequently. The Car will start and run for about 1 Second then will cut out. Definitely electrical as there is not coughing or spluttering, just a clean stop as the power is cut. Seems to me like the Immobilser is re-energising after startup! Any ideas about the likely culprit?

Same problem exists with both keys although initially it did seem to happen on one more than the other.

Yeh, although no great surprise, when we took it in to the garage and ran the Diagnostic it could find no faults at all.

Thanks for that Spittle5dj, I shall go back to them with this and see what they come up with.

your certainly on the right wavelength. most immob work that way. a good diagnostic machine will tell you that you have a key problem.

I Have just checked auto data, yes the bent copy lol! system malfunction, engine will run for 1 second and cut out, immobiliser can only be reprogrammed using suitable diagnostic equip. dont mess about get it into a dealer.... or buy a free running ecu..where the eprom chip for the key reading process is cleared..

My golf vr6 wipers only worrk on fast speed intermittent and ordinary speed dont work

Sounds simple.
First port of call is the wiper switch and wiring to it from fuse box. The swicth especially.

Next port of call will be wiring and connections from fuse box to wiper motor. Wiper motos seems to be OK according to your fault description.

My 1995 VW Golf 3 VR6 engine refuse raise to the maximum when reved.

Thats because the car ecu is program to do that if you want to bypass that , you will need to buy a computer chip and install it ..it will let the car rev to red and give you max speed i belive its max is 160 mph.

My vr6 wont start after changing the engine

There are a fair few things it could be after such a major job......but it sounds like the immobilizer is being activated as the engine control unit you have fitted wont be adapted to the original immobilizer control unit.i am pretty sure on a car of your age it is just a case of erasing the learnt values of the engine control unit .a diagnostic machine will be required.I would recomend a main dealer but you can probally find someone with VAGCOM who can sort it.Cheers

1995 immobiliser problem

Hi

After some closer inspection, I found that somebody tampered with the startermotor's wires. They cut the 12V wire and stripped the other. So when you disable the immobiliser, and turn the ignition, the 12V that should be applied thorugh that wire is not present. Simple to fix, but flipping anoying!!!

Thanks

Vw golf Mk3 VR6 gearbox/cooling system

I don't know where your leak is happening but I suspect the transmission fluid attacks rubber and may be leaking from the heater because of softened hoses.
I think the first move I would make is to buy a Haynes or Chilton service manual and spend some time researching how the transmission and cooling systems are related. The books are available at auto parts stores (or on line of course) and cost between $17-$30 US.

MK3 GOLR VR6

Your cable from the battery needs to be in great shape. If this happens mostly when the weather is very hot, it is quite likely the cause.
