Car overheated. Replaced thermostat. Now Car still overheats and no hot air coming from the heater. Is there a pressure relief valve somewhere in the system? Car is a 1998 Ford Contour V6.

Possible air pocket in cooling system causing overheat and produce no heat at heat core. Heater core is fairly high in reference to cooling system and this is typically where the air will get trapped. Try running the engine with the coolant reservoir cap off and reservoir full of coolant and heater in on position to relieve the air pocket. Also make sure your cooling fans for the radiator are operating
Leave rad cap off when starting from cold, turn heater(not defrost) on, and top up coolant in rad as you go, to about an inch or 2 from top of rad. Let engine run with cap off until your rad fan comes on & off 3 or 4 times. Every once in a while, rev engine slightly for 5-10 seconds to help bleed air out faster. After about 3 or 4th time fan comes on, you should be o.k. to put cap back on all the way & fill bottle to proper level. Heat should be there now. Give it a try & let me know how it goes.

Usually answered in minutes!
Replaced water pump and that cured problem. I took out the thermostat again and noticed a small piece of plastic wedged into the thermostat. I removed the water pump and took it apart. The impeller was in pieces.
Have you checked the operation of the waterpump? Drive belt tension may also be a culprit
