Saturn stalling out

I have a 1993 Saturn SL2. The car cranks and runs great but after you drive it for some time it cuts off. It acts like it is running out of gas. You can let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes and it will crank up and go again. There is no particular time or distance before it quits. I have changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump. If anyone has experienced this problem please share with me Thanks

1994 saturn stalls when idiling or driving usually in the first five or ten minutes of being started it fires rite back up and runs perfect for the rest of the day, until recently when it stalls it wont start up it sits for about 30 minutes and then runs for about ten minutes. the car stutters twice the check engine lite comes on and then the car will stall instantly with no sputter or hesitation.

Sounds like bad spark plug wires. i would recommend changing the plugs and wires - you can usually get the plugs and wires for about 40-60 bucks depending on what quality you get. the problem is that the heat expands the casing on the plug wires and can cause intermittent shorts so that could explain why there is no exact time between occurrences.

Have a saturn sl2 98 that will drive for about 1 to 2 miles and turn off

Does it crank and not start after that? If so it is your fuel pump. That year model was known to have some fuel pump issues. Also the crankshaft position sensor can cause this same problem. If the rpm gauge goes erratic when it is turning off it is most likely the crank sensor.

It stalls after it warms up but then will restart after 10 mins only to restall again in 15 mins

I would begin with replacing the crank position sensor, and checking the fuel delivery system.

1993 Saturn SL2 stalls when coming to a stop.

chesk the battery terminals and wires for corrosion. if they can be cleaned do that. if they are really bad just replace them. i had the same problem with my 95 sl2 and this fixed it right up.

My 1993 Saturn SL2 will start and run ok until it warms up. After that the idle will be close to stall and there is a distint lack of power. The check engine light does not come on.

Have the battery checked, how long has it been since you changed the fuel filter? It is rec. every 2 years. Have you changed the spark plug wires recently? you could have two wires backwards.

1993 Saturn SL2 starts fine sometimes and not others

You might want to start by checking the wires to the starter. I've seen those little buggers age and develop cracks in the insulation causing intermittent starting issues especially if the battery is good and it feelslike it's cranking slow. You might also want to check your alternator to make sure everything's charging properly. If memory serves there was a tsb for these cars regarding the charging system and I think even a recall for the rectifiers.

WIthout trying to turn it over, turn the key to the on position and listen. You should hear your fuel pump prime. If not could be a bad fuel pump relay or maybe a bad wire to the pump, or even the pump itself.

Do you remember the specific codes you pulled from the computer? Especially the ones from when it stalled after replacing the computer. Those might also be helpful in putting you in the right direction on this.
